As an aside 538 ran article that basically said Kasich isn't really very moderate and has been one of the most aggressively pro-life governors in the last 40 years.

But my point still stands, people (like Nate Silver) who have been the playing "narrowing field" card for months are waiting for something that doesn't look like it will ever occur or will occur too late.

All of these guys are ultra conservative. And yes, kasich, but they're all just awful. Romney was a better candidate than all of these guys.

Right, I get you. I think if the field narrows pre-Iowa it will be because of fundraising, not because they drop out with the intention of narrowing the field to defeat Trump. I do think at least 1-2 candidates will drop out between now and then and then I'd expect another 3-4 to be gone after NH or SC at the latest. I don't think there will be more than 6 or 7 candidates by Super Tuesday...which is still crazy.

538 is now reporting that Trump will win anywhere between 8 and 64% of the vote. Guess we can lock this up.

we'll know after Iowa whether or not Trump's support turns into primary movement. I don't doubt the validity (or permanence) of his support at this point, but whether he's put in the work to mobilize people is a different story. that could be what kills him.

I still think Trump is a plant by the republican party to make guys like Rubio look more moderate, when they're really still pretty conversative
