While also sending out free money.McParadigm wrote:“Stocks go up while millions of people lose their jobs and the very rich insist that human lives are a fair sacrifice for keeping megamansions afloat” is a stupendous way to convince all those young people that capitalism is the best they can be offered. Bang up job all around.
Yeah, for a lot of young people the only good economic news for some time will be government mandated debt relief, federal income replacement spending, and social programs. Meanwhile, the people telling them to put their lives at risk for stonks are the same people telling them they’re foolish to be suspicious of capitalism.Strat wrote:While also sending out free money.McParadigm wrote:“Stocks go up while millions of people lose their jobs and the very rich insist that human lives are a fair sacrifice for keeping megamansions afloat” is a stupendous way to convince all those young people that capitalism is the best they can be offered. When this mess is finally over and Trump is well into his second term this will be the new vessel that border security is delivered in. KEEP VIRUSES OUT!! Hell, he might build two walls.Bi_3 wrote:Also, I hope this sheds light on a few others mistakes as well:
1.) cultural opposition to multi-generational households
2.) "dorm room style" hyper-dense urban living
3.) open borders
That's kinda ridiculous. Shutting down the economy wrecks the economy. Who knew?tragabigzanda wrote:Dow caps worst-ever first quarter with a more than 400-point slide

All you Trump voters can eat a fucking dick. He owns a large part of this because the market players read actual news and know he has bungled this thing since December.

And where has there been an effective response, especially one that hasn't wrecked the economy? Maybe South Korea? Japan? And that has more to do with culture than anything.
I heard they were gonna delay it a year.Bi_3 wrote:BurtReynolds wrote:That's kinda ridiculous. Shutting down the economy wrecks the economy. Who knew?tragabigzanda wrote:Dow caps worst-ever first quarter with a more than 400-point slide

Japan lies about infections to try and protect the Olympics
I think Trump has done a shit job in a lot of ways, but I don't see any scenario where the economy wasn't gonna get wrecked in the response. No country has been able to avoid either the disease or the economic damage.tragabigzanda wrote:Also the US had intel on this in Dec Burt
