Nice. I have the regular OCD and it's great pedal. When I use the VTM I have it set for just a tad of breakup with the volume down on the guitar a hair. I use the OCD to gently nudge it over the edge. With the classic, I use it on the clean channel to get into the rock tone area. It'll also approach full bore shred, but that's not really my thing.

Yea i don't really like using super heavy distortions or really any overdrive that changes the tone of the amp/guitar combo. I have generally, for the past 20 years, used multiiple boosts/overdrives to just barely beef the tone up.

Guitar, tuner,wah, phase/delay/trem etc, distortion set a little more intense, overdrive set a little more intense, tube screamer set low - Amp

Tube screamer and overdrive for a general pure rock rhythm tone, kick int he distortion for a little boost/beef up for any lead work.

Anyone here ever owned a jazz bass? I can probably afford a MIA Fender, but wonder if it's worth the cost. I've played Squier jazz basses that I've loved the sound of, and even then I could upgrade the pickups if I felt the need. Then there's Sandberg, G&L, Lakland, Mayones, Bacchus, hell even Marcus Miller's Sire basses to consider.

I presume he's referring to the Fender Jazz Bass.

While we're here, I'm in the process of trying to overhaul my gear for space/volume/weight/simplicity.

I sold the '66 Jaguar to a doctor in Victoria and recently bought a brand new American Original 60s Telecaster. It's the only guitar I currently own:



I'm in the process of trying to find a buyer for my Marshall Bluesbreaker to help fund a Princeton/Deluxe Reverb, or something else in that 6V6/15-20 watt vein.

I think what I love the most about a traditional Fender jazz is the neck. It's so damn playable.

What a beautiful guitar! I thought you also had a 52 tele though??

They messed up shipping on the amp - meaning - they forgot to ship it.

That one was sold a few months ago, before I bought the Jaguar.

Going back to late last year, I had that '52 Telecaster and a different (reissue) Jaguar. Decided I should sell one as I needed the money for bills, I sold the Jaguar. After doing that, thought I may as well sell the Telecaster too. Was planning on picking up something else when that vintage Jaguar fell out of the sky (with a little help from Ruddo). It was cool to own for a while but I think I'm done with Jaguars, and I also helpfully learned that I really don't have any desire to own vintage guitars.

Very happy with the new Telecaster, planning on having this one stick around.

Hello there. With a just a few moments of getting acquainted, this is exactly what I've wanted. I definitely get more appealing tones at lower volume! Though, its still a loud amp!

Still have to mess around with it quite a bit and figure out my sweet spots but im very very pleased.

Your sweet spot will be holding that SG. When did you get that?

How's the germanium OCD?

I've owned a bunch of vintage-style fuzz pedals with germanium transistors (Fuzz Face, Tone Bender clones) which were wildly sensitive to changing temperatures, especially the Australian summer heat which rendered some totally unusable. I've had to leave them in the fridge for a while so I could get something out of them.

I think the OCD has a germanium clipping diode, from memory, which probably isn't quite as temperamental as a transistor (we are now reaching the dangerous outer boundaries of my knowledge on such topics.)

That's about my limits too. "Stick this pedal in the freezer and you'll get a different tone." I never had much experience with it; tried some GT boxes on sessions, but it was climate controlled and they sounded like normal pedals to me.

Strat, take your pedal skiing and report back.

I've definitely experienced it but this was during 40 C/104 degree days in non air-conditioned rooms.

Some pedals would sound totally different and gnarly (a Dizzy Tone clone, which actually sounded way more wild than normal) or barely work at all (a Tone Bender Mk 1 clone, which I had to leave in the fridge for a good while to bring back to life).
