There's a lot to like, mostly that it definitely sounds like an "essential" Radiohead album (which seems to be just about every one). Though, based on first impressions, it sits just above Pablo Honey and Amnesiac at the bottom of my "rankings", however absurd or meaningful that ultimately is. It's a very intimate album---others have already mentioned the ambient and layered compositions. The quieter moments have yet to grab me, which may be the divide I feel between myself and everyone that is putting this amongst their best work, but as for the tracks that I like, I really like.

So, considering the variety of responses to this album have been mostly positive, I'd say it's any good.

Only you can truly decide though, Burtrude.

2. Staircase
3. Separator
4. Present Tense
5. Reckoner
6. Bloom
7. Identikit

Shit, Nude should definitely be on there too. See, I knew this was a futile exercise..

Yeah. It's a highlight moment for me as well. I wish there were a few more like it.

exactly!

There's not really much need to do this, but it is kinda interesting to look at their career (thus far) as 3 distinct parts:

Part 1
Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer

Part 2
Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail To The Thief

Part 3
In Rainbows, The King Of Limbs, A Moon Shaped Pool

AMSP ranking:

Daydreaming
Decks Dark
Ful Stop
Present Tense
Identikit
Glass Eyes
Desert Island Disk
Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief
The Numbers
Burn the Witch
True Love Waits

I expect this will change.

I'd break it down further, swan - I think that HTTT and In Rainbows are pretty much their own subset.

I'm really enjoying Tinker Tailor. Listening to it right now, I don't think it would have looked out of place on Kid A or Amnesiac. Really tremendous composition and mood, and it has a lovely texture to it. Such a nice balance between the drum kit and the computer beats.

Not totally ready to break down the record yet but will reiterate that Daydreaming is a fucking brilliant song. And I haven't even listened to it with headphones yet.

I'm becoming mildly obsessed with the video. Can't remember the last time I said that.
