I would have preferred having her take out Cersei over the Night king but who knows what they have in store.

Cersei might outlast all of them and keep the throne

Listening to commentary today... reading through RM... reading tons of stuff on the internet... one thing is 100% clear to me. The show fucked up Dany. The tremendous amount of misunderstanding around that character is staggering.

Or rather... that sounds stuck up... I don't mean that... I guess, I think the character is really misunderstood. The commentary I'm seeing just doesn't make sense to me. It's totally possible that I'm wrong about the character. I guess I just wish people saw her the way I do. Because so much of the stuff I'm seeing feels off and not at all supported by the text.

Either she’s winning too much and boring or she’s fallible and therefore dumb according to most show criticisms

To me it's the same as the people who were all like "jesus this show is so damn depressing... everyone dies... can we just get ONE win? Please?! Like ONE feel good moment please?!!!" and then after last night they're all like, "this show has no balls... they're too afraid to kill anyone anymore... it's unrealistic/Disney shit!"

It makes my head hurt.

Totally flaky and leaps from noble and full of common sense and idealism to cantankerous and spoiled and despotic. Within episodes.
It looks like bad writing. It might be.

Or maybe she’s Targaryen and that’s how they are?

Your description doesn't match what I've seen. Here motivations have always made sense to me. She's flawed, of course. All the characters on GoT are. There is depth and complexity. But "spoiled" and "despotic" are not words I would ever use to describe her.

Like, last night, she made mistakes. The entire plan breaks down because she leaves the cliff with Jon. But she leaves because of her heart. She leaves because she just watched her people get wiped out and she can't stand still and do nothing. Is it a mistake to abandon the plan? Of course, but her motivations are good. Her heart is good. What she wants and the desire that pulls her is coming from such a beautiful and empathetic place that it just breaks my heart. I have to root for Dany. She's one of the only people in this story that fucking cares.

But, again, I think a lot of the baggage I carry for her comes from the books. I'm probably filling in blanks in the show with stuff from the source material. I'm connecting dots that D&D are leaving blank. But it's had to separate the two, especially early on.

I gotcha. Sorry, I didn't mean to say that was your take, just meant to point out the words you quoted.

Yeah, it's possible. But I have to say IF that happens it'll be disappointing for a ton of reasons but the biggest is that it's not at all the character that's been set up. If that happens it will be the definition of bad writing because it'll be creators forcing an outcome in spite of all the actual story/character stuff that came before.

I absolutely loved watching Arya's "dance" as she killed tons of zombies. And I'm glad they chose her to finish the Night King. We all knew someone had to get him otherwise the dead would've won. Better her than Jon. I'm still hoping there will be more explanation about wtf Bran was doing.

Also for what it's worth, I think Jaime will kill Cersei, because even if she is pregnant, I don't think it's his.
