Great interview but he’s going on like they’ve reinvented the wheel.

It’s the most generic ‘pj’ sounding record since yield or vs

He should be championing that rather than letting on they did some insane new thing. They really didn’t.

I can’t believe they made a song like WFS in 2024. I’m smiling ear to ear with joy.

They released the worst songs on this as singles, it’s kinda amazing.

No one gonna fault the Wootman for his savage diss of Chris Friel in that RS article? Only mentions Matt Cameron as having played on the Gossman demos.
I retract my compliment

The record shop recording is better than the actual production on the album.

Save the link. You’re gonna need it.

I didn't get that impression at all, but even if he did come off like that, the fact is this band has been working against their best instincts for years now; some of the things Watt got them doing shouldn't be new, but it's been so long since PJ did them that they may as well be

thats a very cool interview and it shows how much Watt knows the band but it made me happy to hear the band had such a good time making music together in a different way than the last couple of albums, specially the last one were they worked individually with their producer on those songs.

Even if the production is not what i want for PJ ( and im sure itll be clean and pop and i wont like it enough) seems the energy and the songs could be there, so yeah im really exited.

LEAK GODDAMNIT

Yes this makes perfect sense.

I caved and listened to bits of the leak last night. Then I just listened to the clips on the observer.

I gotta say...im not sure I really "get" React Respond. Lot of hype here but it's yet to do anything for me. Chorus seems really too simplistic. Maybe it needs time for me.

I love, love, love won't tell and always knew I would from the metal door sessions. The middle solo in SOF is just so awesome.

Bought a ticket for tomorrow night - can't wait to hear it all in Dolby Atmos.

This is one of the reasons I'm waiting, I think I read on here somewhere that it was hard to pick out the actual instrumentation of the tracks from the leak. I'm not really an audiophile, and this is only for my perspective, but I feel like there's no way I could give the album a fair shake, good or bad, with that kind of sound. I feel like I'd either be filling in what I want the song to be, or the opposite, holding it against the song because I can't hear what they're trying to do.

I'd be lying if I said I don't feel a little bit of trepidation about loving a lo-fi recording and then finding the actual record jarring in its sheen, or whatever. What I don't feel nervous about at this point is whether I will like most, or all, of these songs. But I do want to wait to hear them as they've actually been produced so I can factor that in right from the start.
