listened to some Guided By Voices via Spotify earlier, and was a bit surprised by how little amount of listens their "top songs" have, especially compared to their contemporaries.

I don't know GBV's catalog in depth but the Human Amusements at Hourly Rates compilation was a milestone album for me during the 2000's. Always meant to dig further into their discography.

I have a musician friend who I respect the hell out of. That dude once said that GBV was his favorite band.

Been jamming on some covers with a couple of friends and want to start writing new songs. They turned me on to some cool "FolkPunk" bands - Bridge City Sinners & King Strang being my favorite ones so far:

There some really brickwalled albums out there yeah....specially Farm. Its just too fucking loud.

Everything since they reunited is like that. The 80s and 90s albums sound good to me, esp the remasters
