so revisiting my question from last week (or so) about what happened to the white walkers and where they were for the last 800 years, this abrupt conclusion to their story is disappointing in that we'll probably never have the answers to so many questions that we have.

There’s no way both these dragons are alive at the end of this.

Yeah, I can totally see how that could be frustrating if you still have a lot of questions. But maybe whatever those questions are will still be answered. Sam's still around. The Citadel is still around. Bran's still around. It's hard to know how where to stand on this until the series is wrapped, I think.

so, were you hoping to get that info about where they've been in 4 episodes? So, one of the four episodes left would have been dedicated to that? If they were going to do that story, they would have done it in previous seasons. As far as the abrupt conclusion, they did their share of destruction along the way. Wildlings, the wall, the rest of the north. It isn't like they just showed up and lost their first battle. I do agree they could have explored where they have been all of this time, but not this season. Should have been done long before their final battle and defeat.

I guess I'm in the minority on this but I'm not sure that I ever needed more information about them. To me this is kind of like LOST and how people got really invested in things that were never meant to be explained or expanded on and as a result they felt cheated or misled or disappointed along the way.

All I ever needed was a motivation. Bran gave us that the other week, so I'm good. But I can totally sympathize with those that were hoping for more.

I was talking to my wife about something like this... Now that the long night is over and maybe after (if) Cerci is defeated, Danny makes a power play, Jon / the North don't bend the knee, Danny is pissed and goes after him with her dragons, but Rhaegal sides with Jon and another fight ensues.

Maybe it's sappy / predictable of me, but I really hope Jon makes it out alive at the end.

For something like that to happen though Jon has to perceive Dany as a real and true threat to everyone. That would be a pretty huge shift in her character. And maybe hard to pull off with the limited time remaining.

Same, I don't need to know the history of the smoke monster, err Night King, but if they would have gone there in a previous season and gotten more into the first men, the children of the forrest and the NK, I'd be fine too but I didn't feel it was absolutely necessary.
