i have memorized way more dmx lyrics than i realized

It is super common for musicians during press campaigns for a new album to say "we wrote 60 songs for this album" (or a similarly impressive number). It seems dishonest to me because I'm certain in most cases a majority of those are just a bunch of lyrical doodles, half-finished demos and loose melodic "song ideas," not full songs. Stop lying, musicians!

I think the "this is our best album yet!" lie from the Dave Grohl and Chris Martin types is more common and annoying.

Saying “this is our best album ever” is the same as Apple saying shit like, “best iPhone yet”. Of course they’re gonna say that. They’re not gonna say, “it’s pretty good, but not really as good as our last few”

There are countless ways in which to speak on the merits of an album without saying "this is our best one yet!". I'm not saying the artist should admit they were creating better art when they were struggling or that their new album is a stinker.

But yeah Pearl Jam has been churning out stinkers since Riot Act.

I really loved both Gnarls Barkley albums. Wish that was something that bore more fruit but I guess it only last as long as it lasts.
