Yeah, I think Stip has some major blinders on if he can't accept the direct mirroring with ANH. And, I say this as someone who thoroughly enjoyed the new movie.

I'll respond to this in more detail when I'm off a phone. It's there - I just don't think it matters.

Here's what I hate about the poll option in both of our Force Awakens threads:

"The originals" are of varying quality. Asking if this one is as good or better or worse is stupid. Maybe it's as good or better or worse than one or two of them.

Don't worry, its safely outside of both the three originals and the three prequels. It was made for the middle. middle. middle. middle. The most middling movie ever created. In fact, if you ranked every movie ever made, this would sit squarely in the dead center.

I never thought the universe was that rigidly defined at all. This is lock step. I'm not saying it doesn't need Jedi or storm troopers, but fuck, ANOTHER Death Star? Jesus.
