i saw this for a 2nd time friday night and it really was a lot better on the 2nd viewing, confusion and surprise was gone and i could see lots of the things i missed the first time through. i did have 1 question though, at the end we find out Luke was a projection, but did anyone else realize that? obviously Kylo did once he tried to fight hi but the rest of the rebels aside from Finn seemed fine with him going out on his own and after they realized he was creating a distraction and escaped out the back of the cave they seem to have never tried to check on him, so did any of them know or were they ok with him likely being killed and they just got the survivors off the planet?

Rian has said the only person knows he’s projecting himself is Leia. He never actually even touches her when leaving th dice in her hand or kissing her. And he makes no sounds other than his voice. No footsteps or anything. Kylo doenst know until he slices him to no effect. The rebels don’t know nor do the first order looking on.

so then i guess that part bothers me a bit, if they were wanting him to be their savior or whatever and they just leave him, but maybe off screen Leia lets them know so they are ok not checking to see if he is still alive.
i really love this movie though, im wanting to see it again in the theater but not sure if i will, the longer its out the more idiots are in the theater to see it that dont care enough for SW to be decent during the movie lol. do they have a ball park release date for the dvd/blue ray etc.. ?

They watch almost the entire fight so they migh have figured it out. Doesn’t bother me tbh.
April or May for home release I think.

The Luke drinking milk has immediately become an all-time classic gif. Can’t get enough of it!

they think he is real but as Poe points out there is nothing they can realistically do to help, plus Luke is willingly sacrificing himself so they can escape. Thematically it plays into a few of the major ideas running through the movie - the old giving way to the new (this moment is also immediately followed by Leia giving way to Poe, who learns that leadership is often about preservation more than victory), the chosen giving way to the common, and the importance of mythmaking and the relationship between reality and legend.
if they know luke is a projection that resonance is lost

I think its also a point to the legend of Luke. He is a living legend and what he did resonates...the kids talking about him, etc.

Did they start running before or after the barrage of cannon fire? I figure if he walks out there and survives that, you figure he's got this and you get the fuck out.

I did forget about the kids talking about it at the end. But i also cant remember if they started their escape after Luke survived all the blaster fire, i think it was after because i think they saw Kylo walking towards him.

I plan on watching it again though.

Its very divisive. Its very flawed and i still dont like the comedic tone of the beginning, i still feel it like a slap in the face.
having said that, i enjoyed the second viewing of it. And loved 3 scenes: Yoda, Snoke´s death and Luke and Leia.

I don't understand why Snoke was CGI. There is nothing about that character design that couldn't have been created more effectively with a human actor in a make up chair. Seems like a waste of money.

I kinda agree with this. I liked Snoke´s design but yeah..an actor would have been cool.
