There was no opening theme or couch gag this week; it went right into the story. It was Christmas-y in that it was a spoof of Hallmark/Lifetime Christmas movies but the plot took place in summer.

Comic book guy got an origin story. It started out as a nonSimpons episode but it didn’t go in that direction and the Wes Anderson tone in the second half was a nice, well played touch. A decent late era episode.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Had no idea this was a debate. The answer seems obvious to me, but I'm curious to see what RM says.

Similar to the "man saying goodbye to a shoe" debate. More generally, I like this video as an examination of the absurdity of hyper-specific message board pop culture debates.

I’ve never heard the term “that’s where I’ma Viking” to mean you’re good at something. He goes to sleep and is a Viking in his dreams. How could it mean anything else?

Interesting. I always took it to mean he was good at sleeping as well.

I'll watch the video later.

Because he’s not smart enough for such metaphor making?

He’s dreaming about being a Viking.

Fascinating

We have a definitive answer as to what the intent was (as the video lays out, the writers have said they intended for it to be that Ralph dreamt about being a Viking) but it's super interesting to see how different people interpret it differently, and often can't see how the other interpretation would even work
