I won hartford reserved seats, that was my 2nd choice. It goes as the following

Hartford GA - Lost
Harford RS - Won
Brooklyn 2 GA - Lost
Brooklyn 2 RS - Lost
Brooklyn 1 GA - Lost
Brooklyn 2 RS - Lost

Friday night in the ghetto baby!

Mecca, I think.
it's really my fault for making GA my first choice. Aside from the fact that reserved was my 2nd choice and those were my only choices.

How would you do that? Do you start with the first show of the tour, hand out all the tickets, then move to the second? That's not fair to people who live in spots that don't get hit till later in the tour.
I don't understand. If I live in NYC and I got rejected for all shows in my area and want to travel to Phoenix to see my ONE show then I should be treated just like a Phoenix local who only selected that as their ONE show. You will never convince me otherwise.
But how would this work in practice? These tickets have to be given out in some kind of order if you're going to bump people's #2s up to #1s, because you only know you didn't get your #1 if that entire show is given out.

Say they were to operate by starting with the first show on the tour, give out all of that show's allotments, and then move on to the second show and then give out all of show #2, and so on. If your #1 choice was the first show of the tour and you lose out, and your #2 choice is, say, the tenth show on the tour, you would have a better shot than someone who had the tenth show as his #1 choice and the first show as his #2 choice, even though you both wanted to go to the same shows. That'd be a pretty messed up way to do it.

Why on Earth is that funny?

If I chose San Diego (1) and L.A. (2) and you just chose L.A.; and I got rejected for SD; why shouldn't we both have same shot at L.A.? I'm a member just like you and I deserve a shot at 1 show just like you. In fact, I'm willing to travel to see just one show! That's absolutely how it should work. It doesn't matter that you only wanted to go to LA and I was open to going to two or three or four shows. Why should that matter?
Sure, but that's an argument for a completely different system. This is obviously the way they wanted it so they could limit people obtaining multiple shows. Basically, most people will get tickets to the one show they want most of all and whatever is left over will be distributed around accordingly. That's the whole point of this system, it's aiming for something entirely different than what you're describing above.

You can disagree with it (I don't agree or disagree, it's irrelevant to me) but I was just pointing out how it works since lots of people are getting it wrong.
Wrong! I'm saying it should be set up so that everyone can get 1 show at least. That's exactly what I'm saying! Re-read!
That would still mean that all of those who made a careful decision that they most wanted to attend the LA show now have lessened odds of securing a ticket because of you and anyone else in the same situation. There's still a finite amount of tickets, that person who put LA first now may miss out on a ticket while you end up with one due to random selection. For what they want to achieve, I think the current system is better.

10th show on the tour??? All the tickets are given out same day for entire tour. We are on a different page, sorry.

And no, would have SAME shot - not better. Your #2 becomes #1 and you are in same boat as the other #1's for that city.

Why? I just disagree but that's fine. That LA guy has no reason he deserves to see a PJ show more than I do. And I'm willing to travel! We both just want to see 1 show. It's not about "gaming" the system. I'm willing to go to multiple cities to see my ONE show and he's willing to go to just one city. We both should have an = shot in that same city (until I get my tickets).

Why do drawings based on the show when instead you can do drawings based on the member? Limit everyone to one show per tour, and then just start pulling people's names. Give them the highest ranked show they put down that still has tickets available to it.

Nah, I'm FOR a lottery - I think if that's how they choose to do the lottery than its terrible.

That said, my situation probably effects 1% of the 10 Club, maybe 5%. Most will get their #1 or #2 choice (assuming same city/2 nights of shows).

I guess they figure people prefer the (small) odds of securing multiple shows over the security of being guaranteed one.

BOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Then when done w/ first round, start again with people who have more than 1 show. Rinse/repeat till out of tickets.

I've always said Peter should be 10 club president.

That's silly and you know it. Anyone would prefer AT LEAST 1 show vs the same odds of getting two. This isn't Vegas. People want to see at least one show and not gamble at shot at 2.

Thing is, 10 Club doesn't care and never did. They want to sell all their tickets - and they will. So why waste time with the details? This is just more 10 Club bullshit.

All I meant is you've consistently kept the line that the new lottery system is going to work fine and everyone will get tickets. I totally agreed with you until I actually read how it works, then I immediately realised it was going to screw over anyone who didn't understand how small their chances are at getting anything beyond their 1st preference.

Sure, like I said, I don't care whether they use this system or another. I've never once bought Pearl Jam tickets through 10C and I probably won't start now (unless they restrict GA to fanclub members in Australia too.)

I realized that they fucked up with the way they did it but not regarding what we've been discussing.

For instance, IF I wanted to go LA (and San Diego) I was going to put LA for my 1st choice and SD for my 2nd and stick to reserved for both and not enter for GA at all. That way I'd prob get both.

Its really dumb having to game it. They should have done it Peter's way.

I've always been a fan of lottery but yah, can't sue me for how they decided to run it...I just said a lottery is the most efficient and fair way to get tickets to the fans. Efficient = no web crashes and F5s. Fair = everyone should get to see at least 1 show.
