Ah yes. Because as history has shown us, no great art is divisive.

look, within the fanbase there ARE songs that are seemingly universally loved. Alive, Black, State of Love and Trust, Rearview Mirror, Daughter, Go, Animal, last exit, Corduroy, Immortality, Given to Fly, Do the Evolution, In My Tree, Hail Hail, Insignificance, etc.

That's my point which is valid (I think) in the context of the discussion harmless and tolumne were having (if I understood it)
Every song you've listed has its detractors.

sure, but they are very few and far between. These are songs that 90+% of the fanbase (if we can gauge from things like SOTM polls) like.
Even if so, it doesn't mean that good art is non-divisive as a rule.

Anyway. My two cents. I get the discussion and the dissection of all that is Pearl Jam, but I don't get the hostility.
"true fans"

Look, his point is that even here, in a bunch of threads that are pretty near unanimously celebrating two songs, they are frequently offset by 'man, this is really great, why do they have to write such shit' tags.

There is no hostility here and none of PJ's releases affect our being and/or livelihood whether we love or dislike what they are doing...

yadda yadda internet
Sward, you have to take them pretty seriously to spend this much time defending their mediocrity to a forum.

I have no idea if this is an ironic post or not.
It wasn't.

Just because stip is frequently -- astonishingly so -- wrong about modern day PJ doesn't mean people should take issue with every little thing he says.

Yeah, and apparently having something bad to say about the band's output makes you a false fan. And in a way, he's probably right.

Really like these songs, especially CC. I also really like MYM and LB. Not sure what that means. They are all different songs. What I have always loved about this band is there seems to be something for everyone.

If you don't have something positive to say don't say anything at all. This is why I have such a low post count on this version of the board.

However Cold Concussions is fantastic.
