-Production is thrilling, the songwriting less so

-The sum is not greater than the parts. Individually, each song has lots to enjoy, but as a whole the album is way too mid-tempo/low energy.

-Tony Levin's bass work is the clear consistent highlight

Best songs:
The Court
Playing for Time
Road to Joy

Worst songs:
Take your pick from the last four, because it settles into a sleepy ballad vanilla soup and they all blend together.
i have to say, i'm pleasantly surprised how much i like the new album. perhaps it's because i didn't hear any of the songs beforehand (with the exception of the very first one he released). i don't know. but i really like it.
In hindsight I wish I hadn't listened to the slow drip either.
way to make and then completely ruin my day in a span of a minute trag.

It kinda bothers me the year end lists prejudices against white males who play instruments

..but Rodrigo n Wednesday are for real

This geese album is kinda cool.. his voice is kinda funny at times but I kinda like it

Haha come on, man. There's definitely some selective poptimism about, but I'd hardly call it an assault on whitey butt rock.

It's not whitey butt rock, it's dad rock.. a term corporate people branded it to sound less cool to get the youngins to buy whatever the hell it is on those lists

Whitey butt rock actually makes it sound like something we all wanna check out

I don't think there was an executive intervention required for dad rock to suck in the eyes and ears of the masses.

Not even dad rock just any band with instruments in general

Or white guys.. they can be in teens or 20s or whatever

I mean look at any given list

N the one who makes it.. sufjan of all people.. is terrible
