Jesus, every new album countdown is a fucking mid life crisis in this place.
WE also have very different tastes in sounds and pearl jam music so we can move onDDWJMUVW wrote:The problem is with EQ, not quality. Apple forces you into the presets. Also, STOP using Apple Music. It’s terrible.
Get tidal or at least Spotify where you create custom EQs.
W Spotify, I can tweak exactly how I want. Btw, I’m playing these songs through my Sonos speakers using Spotify and my custom EQ and they sound fantastic. Fantastic. When I first heard the Apple preset EQs a lightbulb went off in my head. “People are listening to PJ (or any music) like this?!?!”
I agree vocal melodies have been superb thus far. Surely there will be enough to criticize (and we will pick that out) but I don’t think vocal melodies will be a weak point. Time will tell.Strat wrote:I do love the melody now that it is wrapping itself around me. Both DM and Running are catchy. Along with the snippet of SOmething Special - Gonna be some nice melody candy throughout.
Can someone please just tell me what the best way to listen to this thing is?Strat wrote:It maxes out well below tidal/amazon/appletree_ wrote:Spotify is good. no, for you it is; for me, that's very easy to do, because my ear is finely tuned as a musician, not a producertragabigzanda wrote:No, but…when an album is treated as heavily as this one is, it’s really hard to divorce any of these ideas from the decision made in the mixing and mastering stages.Ms Harmless wrote:you need to understand that "sonics" and "sound quality" and even "sound consistency" are not all about mixing and mastering
listening with your vastly intelligent and admittedly subjective heart is all there is in this lifestip wrote:Can someone please just tell me what the best way to listen to this thing is?Strat wrote:It maxes out well below tidal/amazon/appletree_ wrote:Spotify is good. "if you have an iPhone, you ironically can't take advantage of the highest streaming quality Apple Music offers unless you have an external digital audio converter. That's because iOS does not support Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs like Sony's LDAC, which can deliver audio with a 32-bit resolution but is only available on Android."Strat wrote:https://www.slashgear.com/1477331/apple ... s%20tracks.tree_ wrote:I also tweak my EQ with my soundbar speakers and I can get a great sound out of Spotify on "very high quality" streaming mode. The quality is good enough across streaming platforms that many won’t notice the difference.
So Apple is blowing you away with bit rate (which by the way they still have not released this actual #), but it doesn’t matter due to diminishing returns. Then of course you’re listening through the shittiest EQ presets I could ever dream of.
Give me 2 minutes with your iPhone and Spotify app and I’ll dial it in - you’d never go back to Apple.
Tidal is the next tier up. I forget whether your can create custom EQs….
You can absolutely hear the difference if you have a quality setup.DDWJMUVW wrote:This is the last I’ll say on the topic.tree_ wrote:Hmm OK. wow do i feel like an idiotStrat wrote:https://www.slashgear.com/1477331/apple ... s%20tracks.tree_ wrote:I also tweak my EQ with my soundbar speakers and I can get a great sound out of Spotify on "very high quality" streaming mode.
