Also, STOP using Apple Music. It’s terrible.

Get tidal or at least Spotify where you create custom EQs.
spotify is known, literally, for having the one of th eworst streaming quality. Apple and Tidal are better. That is just plain fact.
The problem is with EQ, not quality. Apple forces you into the presets. Pick any of them, they suck donkey dick.

W Spotify, I can tweak exactly how I want. Btw, I’m playing these songs through my Sonos speakers using Spotify and my custom EQ and they sound fantastic. Fantastic. When I first heard the Apple preset EQs a lightbulb went off in my head. “People are listening to PJ (or any music) like this?!?!”
WE also have very different tastes in sounds and pearl jam music so we can move on :haha:

I agree vocal melodies have been superb thus far. Surely there will be enough to criticize (and we will pick that out) but I don’t think vocal melodies will be a weak point. Time will tell.

I also tweak my EQ with my soundbar speakers and I can get a great sound out of Spotify on "very high quality" streaming mode. What does "it maxes out lower than the others" mean?

Spotify is good. You can increase the streaming quality in settings.
It maxes out well below tidal/amazon/apple
Can someone please just tell me what the best way to listen to this thing is?

No, but…when an album is treated as heavily as this one is, it’s really hard to divorce any of these ideas from the decision made in the mixing and mastering stages.
no, for you it is; for me, that's very easy to do, because my ear is finely tuned as a musician, not a producer

you've projected something you're struggling with onto my posts

"if you have an iPhone, you ironically can't take advantage of the highest streaming quality Apple Music offers unless you have an external digital audio converter. That's because iOS does not support Hi-Res Bluetooth codecs like Sony's LDAC, which can deliver audio with a 32-bit resolution but is only available on Android."

This is the last I’ll say on the topic.

The quality is good enough across streaming platforms that many won’t notice the difference.

So Apple is blowing you away with bit rate (which by the way they still have not released this actual #), but it doesn’t matter due to diminishing returns. Then of course you’re listening through the shittiest EQ presets I could ever dream of.

Give me 2 minutes with your iPhone and Spotify app and I’ll dial it in - you’d never go back to Apple.

Tidal is the next tier up. I forget whether your can create custom EQs….

I'm liking this song more and more
It was great to blast it in the car this morning
It's a fun song...I don't think it aims high & that's okay

You can absolutely hear the difference if you have a quality setup.

What are your Spotify EQ settings?

Trag’s journey to realizing he just doesn’t like current Pearl Jam anymore in these new album/songs threads has been something to watch. It was never about the production, he was just in denial.

I went through this during the Avocado era (my PRAMG bullshit radar has always been finely tuned), and I can tell you there is a new way after this, friend. Stay strong.
