dogleg left or right from the tee. if you have to "curve" your shot around trees which shot are you more comfortable with?
also, if these courses are in state parks can people that aren't playing have a picnic in a fairway?

my favorite thing about disc golf was that it was free...my least favorite thing was that i can't throw a disc correctly

I'm right handed, so if I curve to the left I throw a traditional back handed shot. If I need to curve right I flick a fore hand shot. I got the hang of the forehand shot first so I used to be more comfortable that way, but at this point I like both of them, and maybe even lean towards preferring to go left and rip a back hand.

The one thing that's always been frustrating about disc golf for me is that I tend to struggle with the grip on flicks because the lips are too shallow. In ultimate, I have a mediocre backhand and a really strong flick. In disc golf, my back hand is good, but my flicks are really inconsistent.

Innova discs in the Champion style are the only ones I'm comfortable flicking.

I'm trying to think of a scenario where you might need to do it, and I can't really come up with something since there usually isn't someone trying to block you in disc golf.

Yeah, but I don't know that a scoober does anything that you can't just do with a backhand/flick/hammer. It's more of a "catch your opponent off-guard" throw, so unless the trees are actively trying to get in your way...
Or bears.

I just found out that there is a course half hour from my home.
I want to go, so I guess I will have to find someone to drag there with me.
Do you have to have certain kinds of discs? Do you rent them if you don't own them?. If I went there with a 180 gram whammo will I be laughed out of the park?
I'll kick your ass
Just thought I'd throw that last comment in there

yes you need actual disc golf discs
some of the parks near me have a lost and found you can borrow a disc from for a round or two if you're just starting out

Hi! So a regular frisbee won't work?
I've been reading through the thread so I got some of your recommendations for discs,
Is a putter a short shot and a driver a long one?

yeah but putters aren't really necessary
a decent driver and a decent mid range is all you need to start
