I saw The Complete Circles and Puscifer last month - Paz isn't with them anymore - they've got Matt McJunkins now.

Ha, this was my exact thought too.

I have to admit, with Matt's time increasingly being devoted to Soundgarden, I actually don't think this would be outside the realms of possibility. If you recall, Freese was one of the three drummers they auditioned to replace Abbruzzese (and was Stone's preferred choice at the time.)

I think it would be great, if it happened. I'd love to hear Pearl Jam shake things up with a new drummer and Soundgarden could focus on putting out great music and playing more shows without having to worry if Pearl Jam business is going to force them to put the brakes on. It's a win-win!

PJ has not right to enjoy the talents of Freese. Not at this point, anyway.

These are talented guys who just got insanely comfortable and let things slide. I still think they have the ability to write great material under the right circumstances. Having a talented new drummer come in might actually force them to reassess who they are as a band right now and where they can go from here. Probably not, but it's not like it would hurt.

I reckon they were just hanging out. Aren't Freese and Stone old friends? I think I remember one of Freese's silly "deluxe" album packages included a personalized letter from Stone about his favorite song in Freese's album (I wonder if anyone claimed that package?).

Yeah they are friends...He also played with Stone in some songs he was working on a few years ago, he even posted a pic...i think it was 2010? because SG had just reunited and everyone in the internet started claiming Josh was the new PJ drummer.

like i said earlier today, i was only aware of a perfect circle, but he was w/ NIN for a good stretch, filled in with lots of bands.

i saw him with NIN and he was amazing. Great drummer, but i dont want to see him playing with pj.

Yeah, he's played with a great deal of bands. He's primarily the drummer in the Vandals, but has played for Nine Inch Nails, Sting, Guns n Roses for a few years, toured with Devo and Weezer and does tons of studio work (Paul Westerberg, Ween, Good Charlotte, the Offspring, etc.)
