Rand Paul was having his best performance ever until he brought up Bridgegate. He recovered decently, but man, what a mistake.

Jeb just isn't a good candidate, but he had the two best comments toward Trump - "you can't insult your way to the White House" and something like "he gets his info from the shows. Whether that's Sunday morning or Saturday morning, I don't know."

Does anybody else think that the Democrats (Hillary and the White House, specifically) are attacking Trump as a way of trolling the Republicans--hated Democrats attack Trump, helping him to gain the mantle of The Enemy of the Hillabama, increasing his popularity among Republicans, making it more likely that he can win the nomination, and helping Hillary in the long-run? Or is it just part of the normal "front-runners trying to appear as if it is a foregone conclusion that they will be the nominee by speaking past their party rivals and attacking the other front-runner" early primary behavior?

It's possible. It's also possible that each candidate wants to avoid being seen as the "soft," conflict-avoiding one.

I have no doubt the Dems are trolling them. It's a good strategy. There's no way he can beat her.

At this point, whenever t2b says something about politics or science, I just assume he is correct, so I will take this as permission for me to stop worrying about Trump.

Also, the best way for any candidate to get press coverage right now is to mention Trump anything.

This kinda highlights my general feelings on Nate Silver and crew (FiveThirtyEight) this election cycle. They spent so much time discounting Trump's chances and telling everyone not to worry, that they kinda missed the impact he was really having. Pointing to "historical" fallacies and ignoring trends has made their coverage smug and kinda aloof. They seem less interested in quality analyst and more interested in preserving Silver's status. Annoying as fuck.

So the Muslim woman staging a silent protest at the at Trump rally and him getting her thrown out and the crowd all booing her.

At this point, anything that happens at a Trump rally is just noise. It gets reported on in the morning, and by the afternoon everyone has forgotten about it and is waiting for the next event.

I'd expect far-right protesters (for example) to be similarly be ejected from a Sanders rally.

So the guy wears a cowboy hat and doesn't cheer or say anything but just sits there, Sanders would have him thrown out? And all his supporters would boo?

Trump obviously won't be elected but he is being allowed set the narrative. His narrative. And we're all reading more about him and his stupidity and what it's doing in terms of dividing America and causing huge cultural rifts along socio economic lines that were always there maybe but now it's derailing this entire campaign.

When are the conventions on so we can all just be rid of him.

She didn't simply sit there, she stood up in protest (directly behind him, if I read correctly).

If our fellow in the cowboy hat (let's give him an NRA tshirt too) stood up in protest at a Sanders rally, yes, I think he'd probably be asked to leave.

The point is that I don't think that it's in any way surprising or unexpected that a political party or candidate would eject a protester from a private rally.

So an Aussie and an Irishman walk into a bar...
