I can't really figure out this connection??? Sounds nothing like Go. Unless I'm listening to the wrong thing.Walker Bait wrote:I was thinkin the same damn thing...bodysnatcher wrote:if that tune from the youtube clip is an intro to Mind Your Manners, kinda reminds me of Go
Are we going to do this again. Reminds me of Go doesn't equate to sounds like Go.bluestate wrote:I can't really figure out this connection??? Sounds nothing like Go. Could be a sweet 20 second bridge surrounded by supersonic 2darth_vedder wrote:So do we think that snippet from the tour video is MYM?
Whatever it was, sounds pretty awesome to me. Sounds like they are finally utilizing Matt Cameron too. Whatever that sound was I heard, is exactly how MC should sound. I think I already like this better than anything since Binaural.

Still, I'm really convinced now that I'm just listening to the wrong damn song... especially considering how much everyone says they love it and how Matt sounds great. Wtf? All I hear is a rapid-fire staccato riff which sounds absolutely nothing like PJ nor does it even remotely remind me of anything related to PJ. But my speakers at work are pretty crappy, I'll have to give another listen when I get home.Thejambi wrote:Are we going to do this again. It reminded me of 'Go' as well.Thejambi wrote:Are we going to do this again. Reminds me of Go doesn't equate to sounds like Go.bluestate wrote:I can't really figure out this connection??? You are not off at all in your opinion. I don't hear what they're hearing either. Someone posted a youtube of Muse's Assassin - and, it definitely sounded like a meatier version of that. It also just sounded like some generic nu-metal stuff that I generally hate. But, it was a few seconds snippet. Who knows what it will be like in the context of the song.bluestate wrote:

I hear more Soundgarden in that snippet than PJ. Also, to my ears, there is a bit of Dirty Frank in there. Not really the main part but specifically the 3:55 mark to around the 4:20 mark (I'm listening to the one on Lost Dogs).harmless wrote:It reminded me of 'Go' as well.Thejambi wrote:Are we going to do this again. Yeah it reminds me of a Vs/Vitalogy type of jam thing. The drums are pretty aggressive with the beat which is where the Go thing might be coming from.darth_vedder wrote:I hear more Soundgarden in that snippet than PJ. What I like specifically about the snippet is Matt's use of the ride cymbal. I also like the snare / kick thing he has going on.EJ wrote:You are not off at all in your opinion. bluestate, weren't you telling me to stop whining about PJ a while ago today? It's never very long before the hypocrisy of an instruction like that is revealed.EJ wrote:You are not off at all in your opinion. I don't hear what they're hearing either. Deep 'metal-esque' chugging riff w/ 16th notes on the guitar, mixed with a funk rhythm on the drums containing backbeats = Go.Thejambi wrote:Yeah it reminds me of a Vs/Vitalogy type of jam thing. It might have all that on it as well, in which case I'm happy with the heavy stuff. If what we're hearing is MYM, I'd rather have this kind of heavy than Life Wasted or, at the risk of annoying fans of it by mentioning it again, Big Wave. I'd probably rather this to Comatose too. Basically, this is heavy but not punk, which is basically something different for new PJ (and more akin to old PJ). The only potential problem might be that this song is to 'Go' what 'Amongst the Waves' is to... GTF, Alive, Dissident, i.e. a similar song which pales in comparison. If they go different places with it, if they fuck around with the structure a little, we might get something more interesting. Hard to tell.southp wrote:This supposed MYM clip is not what I'd really like to hear from PJ anymore. The first part of the video, with the more ambient instrumental is where they should explore. They should've rolled a fat one before each session and cranked out their own two-disc "Wall-like" concept album. It's time for an album full of Immortality's and NAIS and Present Tense's!
This. Although, honestly, I'll enjoy whatever is on the next album. It's just a matter of "to what degree."southp wrote:They should've rolled a fat one before each session and cranked out their own two-disc "Wall-like" concept album.
