Not easy to leave your life and country behind. Take your kids out of school, quit your job.

Who knows how many people they’re drafting (seems like more than 300,000), but what I can’t figure is: hundreds of thousands of men who will be fighting with what?

Equipment losses have literally paralyzed their advance. Are they anticipating an incredible influx of tanks and artillery? Like, roughly an entire army’s worth? If not, what’s the plan?

I’m not posting the videos. They’re a lot.

But they’re rounding people up to take them

So Czech told NHL that they don't want Russian players on Prague for the season opening. I really don't understand why they let Russian play on NHL and tennis, when they've been blocked from most other sports.

The thing about this is they have plenty of AK-74s in storage. They are pulling the oldest arms because they either have organizational issues or they don't care and are just filling in bodies.

Russians are famous for packing their stored arms in heavy grease (cosmoline) so there's no reason to believe this is a systemic issue. There should probably be some AKMs In reserves that were better stored than these. That they bothered to issue the AKMs at all is a different question.

Still surprises me that people see this shitbag as anything other than greatest gift that Putin and Xi ever received.

Seems like a bad idea for Russia. They are running low on precision guided munitions, and their conventional forces are terribly overmatched by NATO. They've been reduced to using their S-300s in a surface to surface guided missile role because they are so low on cruise missiles and SRBMs. Do they escalate to an alpha strike if we blow up some stuff with Tomahawks?

They can't establish air superiority against a country that had ~70 Jet Fighters/ Bombers at the beginning of the war. NATO could probably enter their airspace at will with moderate losses after an appropriate SEAD campaign.

NATO won’t enter Ukraine or Russian airspace and you know why.

A tactical nuke seems to change the calculus a bit, doesn't it? Merely convincing the non-aligned countries to join the sanctions seems an insufficient response based on how absolutely insane escalation a nuclear detonation would be.

China has a "if anyone blows up anything in our territory, we immediately escalate to full blown nuclear exchange" policy. I don't believe Russia is as cavalier. To be fair China only had like 300 nukes not that long ago.
