A nice chunky guitar riff for the chorus
“These are the way when you come from America”
“Whatcha thinking”
Funky little number. Big chunky chorus. .john unleashes a cool solo.
“The bastards of light”
Synths all over this one. Sounds like a song about a bar fight. A bit of acoustic guitar country style on the chorus.
The bridge is an album highlight
“It feels so good upon a Saturday night when the bastards come to fight”
These songs are a bit vanilla for Rhcp.
If josh had written these he would of got slayed.

White braids and pillow chairs
Another mid paced track with surf rock guitars over the top
It kind of floated past.
The heavy wing
“Nice building guitar riff to start, mid paced verse then the chorus slays and John takes over lead vocals”
I Like the chorus
Overall it’s ok

One way traffic
I Like this one Anthony is all over it.
“Aaahwayohh Would u be my traffic jam”
Nice bridge. This is the most Rhcp song on the album
Imho. Johns Guitar is very noticeable and flea slays a nice solo on this one.

Let me cry
Midpaced funky track. Anthony is really in a good space and is the highlight on this album.
The trumpets are back on this one
John with a tasty solo.

Tangelo
Acoustic ballad .
Veronica
Ballad this sounds like something from by the way. Verse and chorus sound from different songs.
“My name is Veronica I’m from the Southside”
I think this album is very laid back/easy listening for Rhcp. It will need to grow on you. It’s not one After first listen your going to love. The songs are a bit similar.
Nothing really stood out but I liked these
Aquatic mouth dance
Here ever after
Bastards of light
One way traffic
Whatchu thinking
Poster Child
We’re the ones I’d go back to. But after one listen I think “the getaway” was more immediate
Thanks trag

Ywa I shouldnt of said bland. These are a lot more straight forward arrangments than normal.
Very mellow and a different vibe from any album they have Had before. Flea doesnt really stand out,
Usually Rhcp songs grab you straight away this one is more of a slow burn which may not be a bad thing
MVP = A KIEDIS
THESE ARE THE DAYS - WHATCHU THINKING - BASTARDS OF LIGHT - WILLOW BRAIDS AND PILLOW CHAIRS - ONE WAY TRAFFIC
is a nice run of songs,
the great apes is the first one were i say oh, thats John in guitar!
This feels super mellow, like a mix between the softer side of Californication and By The Way

halfway through now!
so far its impressive, very fun. all the instrumentals are amazing, and all have a pay off jam/bridge at the end. AK is doing some really creative stuff, but i find myself enjoy the songs most in the segments without vocals, that could be because the label would require vocals be upfront/on top of the mix so its hard to focus on anything else when AK is singing. (not his fault)? but its always been that way with RHCP. it would be cool if there were some female vocals to help him out like on mothers milk, or OHM live.. but thats my only issue with the album's sound as a whole.. the mix actually sounds really nice considering its a 2022 worldwide mainstream rock album
black summer sounds like it starts 2/3 through, like it could have had 2 minutes tacked on the start and been an epic 6 minute song.
aquatic mouth dance is an amazing hightlight with the jazz-esque horns. 10/10
its only natural is ironically awkward and jarring, but thats what makes it kinda cool.
i got third eye blind vibes from these are the ways in places..
a lot of interesting turns so far... its exceeded my expectations!

I got a sigh of relief when John took over on heavy wing.. his vocals are mixed much more organically.. i do wish there were more dual parts with john and AK on vocal like this song..
There's a solid 8 -10 songs i will be listening to a lot from this so I think its a winner.
