Yes, because I said "damn those fools."

In a perfect world, they could just have public facebook pages with their nudes on there under an album titled "dont look at these, they're private."

Everyone knows a certain level of protection is needed because there are assholes out there, who want to do assholish things. doesn't mean they're not victims, and it doesn't make it their fault. But to assume that it was 100% safe is foolish.

I didn't think she was that hot, but my opinion has improved quite a bit. All in all I'd say this is a win/win for everyone involved.

Nothing is 100% safe, but everything they did they did with the reasobable impression that it was secure enough.

If anything, services should stop forcing you to answer those ridiculous security questions when you sign up for an account.

Jennifer lawrence is incredibly naturally beautiful. God bless her. I would give anything to stuff her in my pocket, take her home with me, cuddle her and buy her presents.

and im sure lot of them said "man, i was so stupid to leave that there". We all do it. Doesn't mean we should be blamed, or diminish how heinous the act of stealing them was.

You're right, because we as a culture are historically wrong with how we react to this type of thing it's silly to be right about it now.
My point is that if a less famous "celebrity"'s pictures leak months or years down the line, there's a pretty good chance the media will treat it as a jokey piece again. "Oh, look at him, he's gone and got his wang out, the dope". Their sudden outrage is tainted by their previous attitudes. I wasn't really offering any other opinion than that.

These are my opinions, off the top of my head: 1) This is a crime and should be prosecuted as such. The hacker/s should be brought to justice. 2) This is not the celebrities' fault, but to consider anything uploaded anywhere in this day and age as completely safe is naive. 3) People who look at the photos aren't violating these celebrities. They're pretty much guilty of curiosity. How they react publicly certainly is an issue. 4) Apple Sucks.

In a perfect world, we shouldnt have to take any sort of precaution to protect ourselves from assholes. But we do. And as wrong as it is, female celebrities have additional ones to take. It's not their fault, simply a function of the reality we live in. to not acknowledge the importance of minimizing our risks in life is simply going to create more victims to not "blame."

If I'm banging Kate Upton and taking pictures of her while she's face-down naked on a bed with my spunk on her back, I'd have to be pretty stupid to expect that there's a 0% chance that those pictures are going to end up in some one else's hands once they're uploaded to a hosting service over which I have no control.

I feel like this is leading to a larger, grosser point.

I'd take pictures of her while she's face-down naked on a bed with my spunk on her back - and then upload them somewhere with minimal security

I just worry that the "don't blame the victim" mentality that is being preached so loudly right now could minimize the need to exercise good judgment when it comes to our own protections and responsibility to ourselves.

Discussing poor decisions, and theorizing ways that situations could have been prevented or avoided is not "blaming" anyone.

Oh man, if you could solve the authoritative credentialing problem in a way that would not drive off consumers you would be rich.
