That's because you don't live in the United States, where that list of songs is arguably the most influential, paradigm-shifting canon of music of the last 30 years.

I was going to post the same thing.
Same here - I tried listening to some of it, but it's really bad. I however wish him well in his endeavours

I totally understand someone not enjoying Garth Brooks, especially now, after the fact. Or if you're not from the US. I totally get it and I don't begrudge anyone for their opinion.

But this man's music changed my life and shaped the musical landscape of this country. He's a gem and I'm so thrilled to have him back. He'll probably never be able to do what he did in the 90's. Few get the opportunity to change the course of music more than once. But fuck, I had a great time at his show and I want nothing more than for him to release new music forever.

Side note: for those that care, he mentioned he will have a new album dropping this fall. :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:

Alright.

Pretty much everything happening in modern country (the good and the bad) is down to Garth Brooks. A lot of the alt country scene (again, good and bad), you guessed it... Garth Brooks.

He's the single highest selling solo artist in music history. It's fine if you don't like him or want to take the time/can't listen to him enough to take the time to dive into his work and understand the impact the man had. I get it, believe me.

But, yes. Garth Brooks changed music.

Music History. Garth Brooks.

Again. History. World. All times. Forever.

Garth.

Brooks.

My high school girlfriend's mother once asked me if Chris Gaines was considered rap music.

My wife and I hoped he would come out as Gaines and play the entire Gaines album start to finish and then leave the stage.

It would have been the greatest concert I'd ever been to. I wanted it so bad.
:haha:

I got sucked into a conversation about an upcoming Garth Brooks show my friend is going to, and the conversation quickly entered Chris Gaines territory. Turned out to be my favorite conversation of the night
I feel bad for Garth as it pertains to that whole debacle. But not as badly as I feel overjoyed that the rest of us got the Chris Gaines debacle.
One man's stumble for the entertainment of millions!
His loss, our gaine.

Those are US figures only, Joey. He's still on the shortlist but worldwide there are a handful of artists that beat him out.

That's gotta be US-only. I refuse to believe this.

Did he toured anywhere else besides Texas?

Fair enough. My apologies.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a force & heroes sculpt the landscape of American music.

No. He didn't toured anywhere but that one state. In fact, I lied about seeing him preform live. He's only ever playded music in Texas.

Top 5 though. Still fucking impressive for a guy who semi-retired and went 13 years between new studio albums.
