I’ve done enough DIY assembly now that IKEA is no big deal. YouTube is your friend when the instructions are useless.

I had to put together 3 separate sets of stand alone big arse clothes drawers from Ikea a few years ago. I still have ptsd from that particular weekend, specifically those draw runner fuckers. Not a jury in the land would convict you.
yes anything with drawers is death
this table was simple enough
but the pain lingers on

Drawer runners are the devils own contraption. In the same league as hanging fucking blinds and curtains.

I assembled eight chairs and a table for my parents' back deck a couple years ago. Just me in the garage, listening to music, fitting pieces together and tightening bolts. One of the better days of my life

I'm proud of the shed roof as an accomplishment but the actual day to day of it was hard. And it took like a week, yikes

I get this. When you have the space and are decently set up and have that rare uncluttered mindset, this sort of thing can be cathartic. Kinda "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance" type thing. I've had one or two of those.
But drawers and blinds are by their nature born from tight confines and claustrophobic mental states.
The yin and yang of DIY.

just reloaded the beer fridge only to find a coca cola that was too close to the cold blower had frozen and exploded, leaving brown sludge all over the inside of the fridge in all sorts of nooks and crannies
as i lurched over with a wet paper towel aggressively attempting to work free the dark brown solidified residue, i considered quitting; as it is only a beer fridge, and could be entitled to a certain level of weathering
but then i remembered it would go nowhere, and only solidify harder; no one else would clean it, it was up to me, and now was the time
and a song came into my head, and I thought to myself
"if we don't take action now..."
- Spoiler: show
