This whole waiting for Stevie while writing about another Stevie makes the song title actually good. It lifted the curse!

Like, Waiting For Stevie is supposed to be the most Ten-sounding song they've ever written since Ten, but I listened to the 30-second clip, and it just sounds nothing like that to me (that's not a knock on the song one way or the other, it's just that I wonder how wide the gulf for me will be between what I've heard about the songs and what I think they actually are).
The most it reminds me of is Breath.
Just wait till you hear it in it’s entirety.

I've listened - I hope this is NOT what the streaming versions will sounds like. Seems very low quality and there just isn't a crispness/instrument separation I would expect. I'd be REALLY disappointed if this is what it sounds like Friday at 12am on Spotify. Please god no.
can someone check the bitrate and stuff on those mp3?

I don’t think it sounds at all like Ten.

The song actually achieves not to be an emulation of past hits…there is something very organic about it (not talking production here), its old PJ, but also new…they struck gold because of it.

For all the newbies: there is no "leak". There are some recordings of the record store listening parties from yesterday. Here is one of them.

For all the raving reviews on Matt and Mike, I dont think any review did Ed justice…I mean, the guy gets praise on LB and Backspacer from the critics, and nobody gives a note on how much he soars on the album.

Yeah it might be the quality of the version I have but it doesn't sound one iota like Ten era PJ to me. Ed does sustain his notes a bit more like he used to. But overall the main riff sounds nore like The Cult to me. Great song tho.

Yea none of the clips are super exciting to me but really sounds like they are not fully representative of the actual songs. WFS sounds more like something off LB mid tempo
We'll see!

It's cool and it connects my to favorite Band with with one of my favorite atist. I believe the sentiment will be moving. I'm guessing it is a love song of sorts Ed feels for the fans and communal electricity before a show starts.

I hear a lot of Hold On in it so I could understand if someone said it sounded like Vs era.

Think Nothing as it Seems, Come Back, and Yellow Ledbetter had a baby while David Gilmour is delivering it.

Watching the Last Walz . Forgot it starts with pool break. Made me start drawing connections between setting Sun and The Band

In reality, the Pearl Jam grunge sound that most people relate to them lasted all of maybe 6 songs...Once through Black. After that and through Vs. it's much more of a classic hard rock sound. WFS is more in the latter vein to my ears.
