It's worth noting that a 3 point win by Moore would underperform the GOP's typical lead in Alabama by **25** points. This is a real "long term cost for temporary gains" move by the party.

Agreed, but Republicans have begun such a "damn the torpedos"-style frantic legislating of nakedly unpopular ideas that I deeply suspect their internal data says "hey, you might not have another chance to do this for a good long while."

Might as well win the donors and sabotage everything else on the way out, so you can turn around in 4 years and say "see? Democrats ruined the economy! And look at what Obamacare became! Dems can't govern!"
