I didn't care for it much either. Especially since it wasn't the best part of the hostage story.

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I liked the Rob Schneider cameo as a Muslim terrorist with an incontinent camel.

I feel like the posters who really like Scott were offended by what I said, and I guess it could be construed as harsh. Maybe hebisnt "mediocre", but simply average to slightly above average in relation to most of my favorite actors. He had some really good scenes in Monsters, but there were a few that, although not cringeworthy, took me out of "the zone" a little. Overall it was a great performance, I just felt like the director may have played a large role in bringing that out of him.
I forgot he was in Killing Them Softly. He was pretty damn good there as well.
He has my respect, guys. Calm down.

Re: What movies are you watching?
First of all, his name is Scoot. Second of all, if a good actor has some scenes that took me out of the zone a little, I would blame the director. And I know LV loves this guy, but I wasn't super impressed with this Monsters or Godzilla-in large part because of occasional tonal or consistency issues. It's def the director at fault here.Kaius wrote:I feel like the posters who really like Scott were offended by what I said, and I guess it could be construed as harsh. And I'm always excited to see him, but I'd say that the two reasons I like Scoot McNairy so much are Killing Them Softly (as others mentioned) and the AMC series Halt and Catch Fire.
