Even worse than the Life Wasted fade?
It's far worse.

Rival has the worst fadeout in the Pearl Jam catalog.

Habit, Corduroy and All Those Yesterdays are among their best.

i'm looking forward to getting the la2 bootleg whenever they get to it. i remember turning to my friend after they performed 'lightning bolt' and saying, 'that was incredible'. i'm really hoping it sounds as good on tape as it did that night. if it doesn't, i'm going to be pretty disappointed.

this same friend says of lightning bolt, "it's a springsteen song minus an amazing sax solo." i can't disagree.
ah, copperplate, a font for the truly modern man.

Rival already had its emotional climax--its fade is a question of how long you want to linger in the aftermath. LW or L-Bolt haven't peaked, or are in the middle of it, when they fade

Saw it in Buffalo, as well as the performance on Fallon. This song is special live. Eddie pushes himself at the end, to admittedly varying results, but the energy and passion is undeniable IMO.

I think ending with a fade is perfect for Rival. My issue is it happens too early.

I pretty much think most Pearl Jam songs end too early. I wish they'd take a cue from Uncle Neil on this matter.

So basically can it be surmised that BoB just has no idea about when to bring in the fade?

BOB should have implemented a fade for LB somewhere between seconds 2 and 3

The single edit IS vastly superior.

A few more of those bobbing and weaving Crazy Horse style jams would be excellent.

Let The Records Play popped up on my mix while at the gym and I didn't feel the urge to skip it at all. This is progress
