I mean, that is a thing, but she plans to basically do what’s best for the smallfolk over anything g

I'm not sure why both can't be true.

spot on about the constant baiting the viewer/plot armor crap, as well as ending the dead vs the living arc with three episodes left. i hate this episode the more i think about it.

It's pretty mind blowing that they'd just cast aside the Night King like that.

They got it completely backwards.

I’m going to let the show resolve before I judge that aspect too harshly

Yeah fair enough. This actually makes me hope for a Bran is the NK theory coming true. Previously thought it was stupid - and it is - but it’s one way to keep the mystical aspect going.

Now, why would you ever have a rational take like this?

Somehow, when it’s all said and done, the inevitable fucking Clegane Bowl will have more consequence to this story than the NK.

How could you say this without seeing the final three episodes?

If I had to guess Jon and Dany die because their forces are diminished from the battle of winterfell, making the NK impactful. Cersei also dies after winning, putting none of the 3 people on the throne we assumed would be ruling, but the long night threat is gone and so is the cruel Cersei, giving us a bittersweet ending

What’s the play here?
How do you take over the capital when you really only have two dragons and obviously can’t unleash them on the city?

You’re joking or I have the misunderstand?

You don’t think Dany is obsessed with the throne and that alone ?
I think it's WAY more complex than that. Reducing all of Dany's motivations and actions to "ruthless" and "obsessed" isn't really accurate or fair. And comparing her to Cersei is crazy, especially in the context of their individual motivations and actions.

If this show turns Dany into a paler, fire-breathing version of Cersei then I'll call bullshit on them. Not saying they won't do it, just that if they do then they aren't actually telling the story, rather they're forcing an outcome that is not supported at all by the text.
Joey gets it.

Joe doesn’t seem to realise they abandoned the text long ago. or rather they have no text.
To say Dany isn’t ruthless misses a large part of her character. Sure she’s noble and idealistic too, but not when her claim or mission for the throne is challenged.

You can be ruthless and still have a just, noble cause. At least in the context of the late middle ages social structure that this is set in.

The first thing we saw Ned Stark do was behead a man because he ran for his life.

For future reference when I say "text" I'm talking only about the show, not the books. Text being a stand-in term for the piece itself.

I think you’re on the money though. They’re gonna make a hard lurch with her character I reckon.
