A few thoughts today, in no particular order, as the coping process has continued:

- Not all Trump supporters are racists, xenophobes, etc. Just because they voted for a guy, who on certain days makes those types of comments; doesn't meant that they would support this country going full-out nazi.

- Trump is lazy, and would rather focus on enriching himself through tax breaks, tax code changes, and infrastructure projects procured to his entities than waste time rounding up his own cheap construction labor (hispanics) and deporting them.

- Trump is lazy, and will delegate all work possible to other people; other than final decision-making. As a result, we are going to get a standard republican agenda: massive tax cuts, deregulation, increased military spending, and not much change to anything else, except for a lot of (offensive and frustrating) chatter; and probably a roll-back wherever they can of certain voter laws in order to help themselves in future elections.

- Trump may have won as a Republican, but he might not make all his SCOTUS appointments full-retard right wingers. He is actually a Democrat from NYC. He just needed a political door in to slip into and the Republican one was a lot shittier and loose on the hinges so he went in that way.

- Comey is an ass; but Hillary did this to herself. She got so damn greedy as Secretary of state. I know she wasn't found guilty, but don't tell me she wasn't doing pay-to-play; and that the private email server use wasn't with the intent of concealing her activities. She created this problem cause she couldn't help herself. That foundation was already so loaded. You get away with it; you get greedy, you do more. But if you are going to run for president; you better stop it, or not slip up and get caught. She didn't stop; and she got caught. And it is her fault; not Comey's.

- Bill Clinton is a disgusting pervert. A lot of past presidents were racists and sexists. They didn't live in the twitter and cellphone era where everyone recorded everything and broadcast it immediately. They didn't live in an era where women came forward. I am not saying what Trump has done with women is OK; it is not. It is disgusting. But I am saying it is not unusual. He won't be the first racist, chauvinist pig to hold the Presidency of the U.S.

- This is not the 'everything is at stake' election. 2008 was. The country was on its economic deathbed. Right now, the economy is humming. Unemployment is low. Inflation is low. There is room for error.

- The DNC did this to itself by stifling Bernie. They deserve blame for this loss.

- Progressives feel like they lost the world today. They didn't. They just need to work harder to take over the Democratic party from the Democratic establishment. They came close. They just need to keep working. Youth is in their favor.

- You are the company you keep. Hillary lives her life making decisions to opportunistically affiliate herself with people, with little criteria other than power and money; and then you end up with an extended crew of mercenaries absent of character. She almost squeaked it out; but the six degrees of separation from Anthony Weiner did her in. You sleep with the dogs, you get fleas.

- Maybe Trump will display more self-control having now been forced to meet his maker in front of the world and face total loss. The man essentially lived his life as though he gave it is imperfect all and then lost the race. He was disgraced in front of the entirety of humanity, for days and nights on end. Tons of his dirty laundry was thrust into the spotlight. He must have felt remorse. Then he got redemption. That must change a person, at least a little; hopefully.

I think the fear from my side of a Trump presidency related primarily to raw incompetence. But the acceptance speech looked like a man who is content to drop the election charade; and have establishment republicans ingratiate themselves to him and do all the work.

Yes, he will say some potty mouth things in the press. Yes, it is going to be hard to be a non-white in this country for the next 4 years. Yes his supporters will be confused when they realize he is not rolling back NAFTA or deporting Mexicans or building a wall. No, I do not think we are completely fucked any worse than if Paul Ryan were elected. I don't think this is the end of the world. Things will be fine. Just might need to eat a little less arugula for a while.

I just flipped by CNN and they were covering the protests. Apparently, one of the chants they have going is something like, "Go away! We don't want you! Go away! We don't want you!"

I get the fear, the notion of ¨everything is going to hell ¨ a lot of people is having. Yeah, Trump is fucking crazy and its a really fucked up thing he is a president. Of the fuckin Empire.

BUT.

He is is crazy he is just saying stuff...pretty much everyone here in Argentina would say the same stupid thing he says about Mexico, women and the climate change. Pretty much everyone here voted a guy here who is pretty close to Trump´s ideas, but instead he is like the bland, cool, progesist and PC version of him.

Those exact same people are fucking using their facebook walls to protest against Trump.

WHAT THE FUCK PEOPLE. JUST EMBRACE YOUR THOUGHTS.

This made me perk up, but I imagined spenno might not be aware of the historical baggage this carries in the US, re: the Civil Rights Movement. Benefit of the doubt!
