famous and iconic are not the same thing.

Also, I thought it was awesome in the 80s, and still kind of do. 80s cheese, but awesome 80s cheese.

Sometimes I feel bad for you people.

Axl F is the kind of song that if you are listening to a 80's mix and it comes on you get really excited and then 30 secs in it's enough and you hit skip. Stip's right its iconic so you get that initial spike and then you remember its kinda boring.

One of the best things about these tournaments has been the vitriol Stip recieves for his 10th pick each round.

DCT over DeLima in a close one. To be honest this came down to my love for the bit in Pixies Monkey Gone to Heaven that goes "if man is 5 then the devil is 6 then god is 7". I really love that bit.

Rangi over Bada. Epic, Push It and It's Tricky are three songs that I often find myself spontaneously and randomly singing.

Birds in Hell over Dsb1218. Senses Working Overtime, Cloudbusting and Dead Eyes Opened get him over the line for mine.

Varis over Koopee27 simply to avoid the shutout. I love my team but never expected to get anywhere in the comp. kp has a monster of a team and will certainly go far.

And I agree with stip on the Axel F thing too - that song was big and kinda cool. Pity that stupid crazy frog had to come along and fuck it up though.

Here's an alternate 10 song team that I could have happily gone with:

01. Hall and Oates - Out of Touch
02. Stone Roses - Fools Gold
03. New Order - Blue Monday
04. Psychedelic Furs - Pretty in Pink
05. Madonna - Like a Prayer
06. Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
07. Bruce Springsteen - One Step Up
08. Cameo - Word Up
09. Sade - Smooth Operator
10. Ryuchi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence

Man, I love the 80s.

Great decade for music. And your team is one of my favorites.

In fact, I will use this post to vote for your team.

When I was voting in the 70s round, I didn't have an urge to "punish" for gay songs like I do for this decade. I don't want anyone to feel bad though, so maybe I won't "that song is so f*cking gay" anyone

gay is ok for people NOT SONGS

I almost took this song in every round from 6 on. It was so close to being my #10 pick. I finally decided that I needed some super ultra cheesy 80's song to round things out, because I didn't have one yet. And I wanted to balance my team with one of those.

But not drafting this one was the hardest part of this thing for me. I'm glad it found a good home.

Yeah great song if I hadn't decided to only choose songs I was into in the 80's it would have been my 3rd pick behind Bastards Of Young and Something I Learned Today.

I'm also really bummed that I didn't get to shoehorn a Femmes song, too. I considered just about every song from their debut. Almost pulled the trigger three times. But thought, 'eh, I can afford to wait a round.' And then there were no more rounds.

Also breaks my heart not to grab a They Might be Giants tune. Again, really thought about it a handful of times. But their best stuff is in the 90's. So I'm sure I'll find room for them on that squad.
