Punches to the face are almost always free. If you're paying for your punches you are doing something wrong.
That's what a pod person would say.

Can anyone confirm the setlist?

http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/soundgard ... fb108.html

(Unknown)
Been Away Too Long
My Wave
Spoonman
Outshined
Rusty Cage

the snippet of Been Away Too Long they showed on NBC just now sounded like shit. but that's usually what tv does to live music...

A big part of the reason people think Chris sucks live is cause 99% of the time they are on TV he shits the bed. I don't know what his deal is.

He sounded great when covered footsteps on Fallon, but generally you're right.

Yeah the MTV Live thing was great too. The SNL one was fucking embarrassing.

It bothers me to no end that every pic of Chris on stage lately, he is wearing a Soundgarden t-shirt.

Give it time. I have three problems:
- The scarcity of good-sounding lossless material
- I have no time
- I am a total perfectionist

My SG mix is like 98% done but I want to ask: is it going to bother people to have 1) stuff that isn't lossless in FLAC format and 2) things that don't perhaps sound the greatest, but are totally worth having? Most of the best-sounding stuff from the reunion phase is of dubious origin (webcast, pro-video with lossy audio, etc).
You're about to get your wish...

I think he just has a particularly hard voice to mix well, something I believe Jack Endino alluded to once in an online FAQ or chat - if I remember correctly someone asked if Cornell was the most natural singer he'd ever worked with, or the one he had to do the least production work on, and he thought that was very funny.

His voice seems like the kind of thing that can sound pretty grating if the mix isn't quite right or if his throat isn't 100%, that's inevitably going to be amplified in a TV studio situation where the performance is live and the vocals are pretty up-front.

I think his voice is found faulty once poorly amplified, it may be loud but it is nuanced.

He was in great shape when I saw him in '07 (solo band gig) belting away never missing a thing with the crowd following along in a small room; he was pitch perfect when I saw him acoustic in Ridgefield, small place and not stressing a smidgen; vox were caterwauling like a mofo when I saw SG in Wallingford, rented equipment but that is a great room acoustically; sound as a pound when I saw him in New Haven solo.
