i knew Sherman was an over-confident jerk, but his justification that he was just being a competitor and competitor's don't complain (like the Bills did) is some bullshit. Dude would be freaking about someone doing the same to his kicker

I found this post a little deflating.

Fans of teams that have waited longer (including never) for a Super Bowl can probably think of even more deflating posts.
My overall point is that no team is more overhyped, year in and year out, than them 'boys. That's all. It's been that way for as long as I can remember.

Cowboys haven't been excessively overhyped for a long time. If anything, they were underhyped this year after going 4-12 last year. The recent regular expectations for them have been perpetual 8-8 mediocrity.

Except that they got six national TV games this season following that 4-12 season. Seems overhyped to me.

That definitely has to do with potential ratings, not necessarily hype.

With more prime time spots, that's more pro Cowboys TV segments before, during and after games. I just find them to be consistently overhyped.

I hate the Cowboys probably more than any other franchise in sports with the exception of the St. Louis Cardinals. But they have a ridiculously sized national fan base. What you see about the Cowboys, the rest of the country sees in David Ortiz. Any team with a fan base that is nation wide, and that large, is going to seem overhyped to someone that doesn't care about it.

I don't hate the Cowboys. I just dislike the pundits who give them the benefit of the doubt and you could say that they're partially influenced by the large fan base so I agree with you there.

I dont think its intentional. I think its basically a perpetual motion machine. They get more hype on draft day, so we assume the guys they draft are better, so they get more training camp attention, which keeps them in the public eye, which gets them more hype on draft day, etc.
Similar to assumption that even dumb patriots picks are going to be good NFL players.

Great comeback by the Vikings and fuck you blair walsh. Can we just start going for 2 every time instead? Whats the point of attempting the extra point.

I think part of it for GB is that their management strategy has finally stopped working. They have razor thin depth in a lot of places. WRs have been taking a ton of RB snaps cause there's just nobody to play. It's a serious problem.

And America and the media latched on to the Cowboys in the 70's. It's people liking the star and the busty cheerleaders. It's a cultural thing.
