This is obviously off-the-charts ridiculous, but even so, who fucking cares? Why is someone's gender identification so important to you? You're always on some trip about this and I just don't get it. Nobody is asking you to identify differently, so why does it matter so much? None of this is harming you in any way.

Why does it matter? Because refusal to go along with it or even making a simple mistake gets you tarred and feathered as a transphobe, and can have very real consequences to both individual's careers, society and institutions.

This is about power, and language games are tremendously powerful tools.

It's a Byzantine social etiquette (not a good thing), and like any form of etiquette, it is designed specifically to divide.

I'm sure people were saying the same things when those darned coloreds wanted to use the same bathrooms as whitey. Or when those darn gays wanted to get married to each other. News flash Burt, showing people respect and empathy is never going to ruin anyone's career. It's never going to destroy an institution, and if it does, that institution should be destroyed.

That isn't my argument at all. And lol at thinking that not using some made up pronoun for the 54th gender is on par with calling people coloreds. Its not even inherently disrespectful.

And again, it's true that showing people respect and empathy is never going to ruin anyone's career. It should also be true that being critical of much of this, recognizing (and linking to the very real examples of) the very real problems inherent in the ideology shouldn't lead to you getting fired from you job or provide the justification enforcing social justice codes into every aspect of society.
