I dont know if i thought it might be the last, but certainly going into Gigaton my expectations could not have been lower...and those expectations were blown out of the water. If i end up loving Dark Matter as much as most seem to in here, and there's no reason to believe that i wont....why cant we expect another solid 10 years out of these guys? It seems they kind of got over the hump, kids have gotten older, more free time on their hands. Why not another 2-3 solid albums?

I'd love them to have one or two more records that are absolute bangers, even if they are relatively mainstream Wattpad bangers

I will let my daughter know she was such a hit to some! everyone enjoy the theater tonight, who are going , I will be in ct tonight for it, hopefully we get a good quality leak!

No kidding, every release now feels like it could be the last. Makes you appreciate where we are in the timeline.

I wish they could making records forever. But one day….

You guys are being way to generous with the 5 stars lol. Only 5 star song on here out the gate is Setting Sun. Many 4 star songs though, and a few of these I could see get elevated to 5. But jeez guys, it's like half of the songs are trending 5 stars on the official RM polling.

Is this a recurring phenomenon in RM polling history, or is their actually something special going on?

With all we are hearing about these Watt sessions, how much the band enjoyed it, how quickly it all came together...i'm betting the window between albums 12 and 13 is smaller that what we've come accustomed to in the post Riot Act era.

Separately, how many RM accounts do with think Watt has?

Crying baby, metal door leak, 30 second clips, record store listening party, cinema tonight....this has been a fun couple of weeks, fellas.

I think we are all probably overestimating how great these songs are because of the "newness," however, I think most of us were looking to add, say, 4-6 tracks into our regular rotations and it seems like we've achieved that goal.

This is the 12th album....I think they make two more. No way can you have this be the last record, and, it's bad luck to end at 13 records. :)

plenty of these scores will relax with more time, but I have like 8 of them at 4.5-5, so they're clearly scratching itches

yeah, could happen...i also loved that pic with Stone and Jeff on Shangri La...get out a little bit from seattle and go to that awesome place and make an album. Loved that. Kinda made me think of that Vs ranch were they did that album.

Also this is from Arthur Morgan rundown and i find it interesting:

¨Some of the lyrics I have caught onto seem to imply Ed is looking back at the beginning and contemplating he is the last man standing, a little but maybe not¨

Cornell was a looming shadow over Gigaton and it seems a lot of that is going to be here, not only him but also other peers and family they lost all this years.

I am at this point as well. Go out with a bang and show everyone why we love this band today so much. I think I have matured enough to be ok with that.

Seems these RM nums/opinions trending higher than in past album first reactions, highest I think I can recall, so at least back to avocado

For those who have seen Dark Matter in the Dark...

Is it actually fully dark during the first listen? Was it awkward at all?

I'm going by myself tonight... Curious what the vibe will be like.

You may well get it. But you gotta be honest, too. Bands don’t last this long. What we’ve had is incredible. And I absolutely hope that all five of these guys is around and able to play in 10 years. But that’s no longer a thing to just presume…nor do I presume that they’ll still want to do it. Contentedly riding off into the sunset would be as fine a way for this band to end as any. And it would be well earned.
