It's so bad they are telling nurses who are Covid positive that they should keep working, they don't need to quarantine. The nurses are saying, "hello. Mask mandate please"

In the absence of a vaccine you can't beat covid, only control it.

Certainly NZ has done an outstanding job on the control it front.

In my state of Western Australia we've gone 7 months without a community transmission and in all honesty life is pretty much "as normal" (with the happy exception of people noticeably giving each other much more personal space).

I appreciate we are lucky here and have made good use of our natural advantages. I'm also very worried about new cases as we are all so complacent about things that I fear a new round would overrun us pretty quickly.

But then again, if that where to occur, we'd be in lock down again for a month and shit would get back under control.

This new case might shake us out of complacency a bit - social distancing was a thing of the past, no-one's wearing masks and people were still going to work sick. I'm guilty of two thirds of those things
