Yeah, I don't agree with the slow burner comment either.

That's probably my favorite trilogy, actually.

Identity has a much slower pace than its sequels. There really isn't all that much action. It's a subtle, character-driven movie. I don't think the pace is that dissimilar from Heat or Drive.

definitely slower than the others...not sure i'd go as far as slow-burner though

I don't disagree that it's more character driven, but the action scenes are arguably better in Identity. Quality over quantity. That and the more intimate scenes still carry a heavy intensity that makes time disappear for the viewer.
