Re: HBO: Game of Thrones (Song of Ice and Fire)
Varys doubting Daenarys is perfectly logical. He saw the good in her, and the way she received followers across the sea. He put his faith in her, for the good of the realm. His goals have never been to support one family at all costs, it has been to have the Seven Kingdoms be run by a good ruler, for the benefit of all. He's seen her weak points before, but it was always better than the alternative, with Joffrey or Cersei in charge.
Sansa should probably be more grateful for the help in defeating the Night King and the dead. But again, it makes sense that she is negative to Daenarys. She is a foreign ruler with foreign troops. She's stubborn and doesn't listen to others. Sansa's advice that they wait before moving south was the best advice in the episode, but easily dismissed by Daenarys.
Who will Dany have left is she loses Grey Worm (plus many of the other unsullied and dothraki) and her dragon? There is very few in Westeros that wishes to follow her.

I agree.dimejinky99 wrote:Anders wrote:Yes, that's a good point. Perhaps not a very important one, but that didn't look like the King's Landing we've gotten to know.
I had previously though that both sides would run into each other halfway between kings landing and winterfell and for a second watching it it looked like it.
But this is just kind of a weird oversight / screw up.
We all know and heard it said they can’t attack the city itself so they need a battlefield. I don’t mind the convenience of one appearing but they could have st least tried to match up the topography

Varys jump from being an advisor to implementing her death/downfall is far too abrupt I reckon.

I think he has had plenty of reasons why, but it could probably have been executed a little better. He did seem to change from doubt to certainty in this episode.

We're probably all in agreement that Cersei did not offer Riverrun to Bronn, right? That wasn't part of his discussion with Qyburn at all, so it seems like he's using that as a chip to try and get something huge from Tyrion. He is really shaping up to be a modern Lann the Clever.

Unfortunately I think Bronn will meet his end before this show endsSimple Torture wrote:We're probably all in agreement that Cersei did not offer Riverrun to Bronn, right? You’re only saying that because he literally referenced how the Lannister house startedSimple Torture wrote:We're probably all in agreement that Cersei did not offer Riverrun to Bronn, right? I mean, yeah, of course. It was odd that Jaime and (especially) Tyrion didn't sniff this out, although they may have had an inkling but didn't want to discuss it with the crossbow in their faces.Mecca wrote:You’re only saying that because he literally referenced how the Lannister house startedSimple Torture wrote:We're probably all in agreement that Cersei did not offer Riverrun to Bronn, right? I agree that the producers have fucked up the essence of the overall story, but Arya killing the night king fits her narrative. Even though Melisandre had no reason to remind Arya of “what do we say to the god of death?” that is literally central to her character and the Night King is literally a god of death, both by causing and controlling death. Her time with the faceless men was literally in service to the many-faced god (I.e. death) and she quite literally rejects it.BurtReynolds wrote:

Why are people so upset with and blaming Benioff and Weis for the way things are playing out right now when ultimately these major points are still under the guidance of Martin?

I thought he was still guiding the story from the backseat? If he ever finishes his books...will they be completely different?Mecca wrote:Because they aren’t under his guidanceStrat wrote:Why are people so upset with and blaming Benioff and Weis for the way things are playing out right now when ultimately these major points are still under the guidance of Martin?

It is my understanding that the books are already completely different?Strat wrote:I thought he was still guiding the story from the backseat? He revealed 3 major plot points to them that awed them. One was that Hodor=Hold the door and I wanna say the other was Jon not being a bastard and the third is unknown. They know how Martin’s story ends but not how he gets there. They even say in the recap that they chose Arya themselves to kill the NKStrat wrote:I thought he was still guiding the story from the backseat? I believe the 2nd "wow" moment was the burning of Shireen, not Jon's lineage/parentage. They had guessed who Jon's mother was during their first pitch meeting with GRRM (although not necessarily that he was legitimate).Mecca wrote:He revealed 3 major plot points to them that awed them. Eurons scared look to the sky
Could it be Drogon about to dive bomb a load of wildfire on his entire fleet?
They seem to be within blackeater bay. Nice call back.
It would end his fleet pretty sharpish.
