Bill Kelliher (one of the guitarists in Mastodon) is 50 years old! I sometimes forget how long he and some of the other members had been grinding before their breakthrough in the mid 2000s. There's a bunch of reeally old live footage on the Workhorse Chronicles DVD, so it makes sense that they're getting on in age, but I still consider them to be a "recent" band, as silly as that may sound.

Some songs just never need to be covered. I am listening to Bleachers cover Drive by The Cars. It's just not needed. There's nothing you can add to that song to make it better.

If you list the albums by prominent artists that year, it pains me to think why I couldn’t have been a teenager then at the record store when Sticky Fingers, Who’s Next, Led Zeppelin IV, etc came out.

That’s the second unnecessary “Drive” cover of the year

Have you ever heard Paradise Motel's version from 25 years ago?

See Hunters and Collectors "Throw Your Arms Around Me" for a particularly good example of this fact.

I don't know, guys. I'd probably enjoy a cover of 'Drive' even if it was all farts. It's one of the greatest songs of all time, so I say have at it.

Just listened to Ziggy's version for the first time. The bassline absolutely slays in this style.

Currently spinning The Battle of Mexico City, and it amuses me that pretty much the whole record is censored, but then they get to Killing in the Name and they just give up

Caroline Polachek's Pang is one of my favorite pop albums in recent memory. The songs are all catchy and emotional and very cleverly written, and the sounds are pure ear candy. I've been coming back to this one since it came out
