Alright, David O. Russell has officially lost any goodwill that he earned with The Fighter. Joy marks his third straight film that is emotionally dishonest, emotionally manipulative, is full of characters that are inconsistent, and is full of dialogue that just isn't the way people talk. I think he's a terrible writer, and an unimpressive director.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. While I enjoyed Silver Linings Playbook, I am also starting to lean this way on him. It's like his first five movies were by a completely different director.
IMO, Silver Linings Playbook is the worst of the bunch. I've never seen a movie crawl up it's own asshole so thoroughly.

Probably my biggest complaint with modern "indie" filmmakers. The "
Junoing" of every piece of dialogue has become ridiculous.
