Not a joke. I love it
Why say that? Oh I forgot not hip to like modern Pearl Jam. This forum is funny it should be renamed Up Here In Our Discord.96583UP wrote:Not a joke. You should expand your musical tastes.

By the way liking post s/t Pearl Jam does show more diversity than the pre 2003 or bust mentality.
yeah, could be. I like that the chorus seems so...relaxed maybe? specially in ed´s vocals. I actually like his vocals here a lot.Tj wrote:When I listen to it I can't help but feel the chorus would be a cool bridge. And have more concise chorus like in MYM. I do like a lot in the song especially the first 20 seconds.
What an obnoxious post.96583UP wrote:Not a joke. You should expand your musical tastes.
I dunno, to a greater or lesser degree, this is probably fair advice for everyone on the planet.Juvenal wrote:What an obnoxious post.96583UP wrote:Not a joke. You should expand your musical tastes.

I've had the same thought. It would also be better if he didn't peter out on the word flyTj wrote:When I listen to it I can't help but feel the chorus would be a cool bridge. And have more concise chorus like in MYM. I do like a lot in the song especially the first 20 seconds.
Right. I think it could fit into the larger context of an album and not seem as weak to some people.stip wrote:someone earlier (McParadigm, I think) pointed out that this song could work a lot better as a bridge track than as a stand alone - where it's primary function is to sustain, rather than create momentum
You basically plagiarized everything I said days ago. I'm always in your head.Strat wrote:Listened to this on the way to work this AM.
Things that bother me about this song:
It should be over after the first chorus. The song has said and presented everything it needs to by the end of the first chorus. There is nothing else worthy of singing after this. Ed brings nothing new to the 2nd verse. Additionally, nothing exciting happens after this. It goes into a lame clap along/sing along bridge then right back into the vanilla chorus then ends. Its all unnecessary and brings nothing else to the song. The song is pretty good up through the first chorus. After that? We've been there.
The song could take a turn for something interesting if pearl jam of years past had their hands on it. A great place for this would be prior to launching back into the last chorus. They could have written a completely new guitar part and Mike could have brought a meaty solo over it. They used to do this. Mankind, hell, even Ole have a section that brings in a completely new musical element to the song to take you to a new place. That requires extra thought and attention.
This song is just same same the entire time. A lot of their recent output is.
Little to no guitar interplay. There is one guitar that could be doing something a little more interesting in the second verse but with King BOB at the helm, he buries it and muddies it up against everything else that is uninteresting. He does this all across the new S/T mixes, most notably burying mikes beautiful guitar fill near the end of Parachutes.
I love the intro and i love Ed's unhinged/borderline awful vocal performance. It brings a sense of urgency to it. The chorus is fine 1 time but after that its grating.
This song? it is not good.
Its all good though. i immediately put on Binaural and everything was fine.

That first 40 seconds is hot fucking fire. Then it shits the bed.Monkey_Driven wrote:I like this more after a recent listen than I did a week ago. Lyrics are still weak as hell but there's something here, call it an urgency, that's been missing for awhile.
