Just the fact that he's talented enough to make you believe him as a guy who does really enthusiastic community musicals is kinda amazing to me. I pretty much loved everything about Bernie.

well i had a issue with that thing....i was expecting him to have a dark side all the movie, because of what Jack Black played him.

Still, it was fine.

Yeah, there's a lot I like about Tiny Furniture. I liked it more than Jeff, for sure. I think my expectations were just a tad too high. Tiny Furniture is good. I mean, good enough to purchase. I'll probably buy it so I can dissect it properly. The final scene is just phenomenal. Just unreal good.

while Jeff...just watch the other Duplass movies. Way better, Way better....

Agreed about "The Puffy Chair" and "Baghead", but I don't think "Cyrus" was anywhere near as good as "Jeff".

I consider Cyrus as the first of their " hollywood" movies...but check out The Do-Deca...its way way better than Jeff...
Jeff..feels like the american remake of that movie....all sappy and obvious.

People Like Us...superb acting, so-so story.

I finally got around to seeing The Red Shoes (1948)

Of course it's an amazing grandoise spectacle as they say, but I also enjoyed the tragic, fairytale-like love story.

Perhaps my only gripe was the last 20 minutes, which felt uneven. It rushed along quick and led up to an overly melodramatic ending that was borderline ridiculous. But it's forgiven. If the Red Shoes ballet was surreal, so can be the outside narrative, and perhaps that's what they were going for.

And the directors also did Black Narcissus the year before. They sure know how to incorporate color!

John Dies in the End. Reeks of purposely trying to be "so bad its good". Its funny to see Giamatti in it though, acting opposite the lead guy who has all the acting ability of a tree stump. Really interesting to see just how much difference great acting makes. At first I thought that this was his relative's movie or something, and that was the only reason he showed up in this shitfest and co-produced it, but it turns out he actually likes these movies.

The only part I liked was the dog driving a truck through a house.

Bergman's The Magician tonight. I wish I started his movies chronologically. Persona was my first taste of Bergman (in college) and its experimentation was a turn off at first.
