i love in part three, where ringo lets the people around him know he farted.
so polite.

Love the 2021 mix of the Let It Be album.

The Long and Winding Road is tough on either but the LIBN version is better. I think Across the Universe on LIBN is maybe better, too. But otherwise, I agree that it's underproduced to a fault and though Let It Be is overproduced at times, I think it works better overall.
Im with you that i much prefer the "naked" versions of both those tracks.

Were there ever any shots of Ringo's footwear? I may have missed them.
This is what I have so far:
John - worn out converse chucks
George - elf boots
Paul - wingtips

i recall ringo wearing what looked like suede loafers, either black or navy.

Kevin Davis wrote:I love the original Let It Beand think the claims of "overproduction" are greatly overstated; if we didn't know that Spector's work on the album was a point of contention between McCartney and Lennon, and that McCartney's vision for the album was different than what it ended up becoming, I don't the album as a whole would be singled out for being unduly "overproduced" in a catalog that also contains Sgt. Pepper and Magical Mystery Tour. And I've never understood the hate for "The Long and Winding Road" -- I think it's a lovely song.
Yeah, I thought that was the sort of agreed upon context. "Overproduced" in the the context of what they'd originally set out to do. In a vacuum I can't imagine saying it's overproduced. I think the record sounds great. And the only time I ever thought of it as overproduced was after the fact -- after LIBN.

I just listened to Let It Be Naked again because of this tangent. I am prefer sure I prefer it to the basic album. The point about Don’t Let Me Down being here is well taken. The Long and Winding Road, I think, would be lovely if they totally eliminated everything but the piano, so still flawed but maybe less so. Across the Universe I like better here. One thing that the original album sounds better with is drums. Ringo sounds tinny here, and his playing feels less impactful if that makes sense.

What is it that people dislike so much about "The Long and Winding Road?" Is it just that's a syrupy piano ballad with strings?

For me, it feels like a song they've done before, only better. Yesterday did what it's trying to do, and much better. Let It Be is a song that feels like a similar song -- and works much better. There's nothing gripping about the lyrics. I'm also not a big Wings fan (in general) and the song sounds like a Wings song to me. Whatever is happening in it is the side of McCartney that I don't respond to well, or that I don't tend to relate to. I don't know.

for me it sounds like every bad ballad from that era through the mid 1970's. deon warwick could be the original artist for all i know.

I don't hate the song though, just skip it.

Yeah, I certainly don't hate the song. It just doesn't do much for me. And when it's on the album in place of something that I adore like Don't Let Me Down, I get a little cranky.

All the new ‘Let It Be’ releases feature the new stereo mix of the album as guided by the original “reproduced for disc” version by Phil Spector and sourced directly from the original session and rooftop performance eight-track tapes.»
