I would be shocked and completely impressed if they were actually releasing a new album before the rumored tour.

At this point I can't believe it though. So far from their usual mo the past 15 years

I believe I heard that on the upcoming album, it will be replaced with "Future Days [live]"

I heard it was going to be a live recording from their recent tour where Ed lets the crowd sing half the song, called "Better Fans (live)"

I don't think you understand what over/under means.
The over/under would be 0.5, I believe, guys. Just like binary. 1 = yes, 0 = no. Duh
Haha, yeah, let's go with %.

I say 3% OTE makes the new album, 1% that a new album is released before this tour, and 65% that the tour rumours are true.

Sounds about right to me. What's the % likelihood of an album at all by the end of 2016? I'd say about 5%.

It's such a dull bit of songwriting. And the time when they could sell it with performance level is now past.

I think it will be timed up with the HOF induction.

I still like Of The Earth a lot.

It's not exactly a delicate piece of songcraft but I don't think it's aiming to be. I think it's comparable to something like Alone or Animal where great band playing enlivens what would otherwise simply be a bunch of cool guitar riffs.

Not indelicate. Dull. I could also have said plodding, lumbering, or like a group of weekend warriors who don't know how to write songs but think they sound like 1970's arena gods.

And those other songs work because of the band's performance of them. Which is why I also said...

To be honest, I don't know if I've ever made it all the way through Of the Earth. It comes out of that solo, which could most flatteringly be described as "another Mike McCready guitar solo" but at least has something melodic to hang on to, goes back into stomping feet and grumbling about rises and falls, and I go "Jesus Christ there's more of THIS?!" and turn it off.

Yeah, guys, OTE isn't really that great. Eddie's grumbling is awful.

Yeah, but don't you think that's why it's never been on an album or released as a single or whatever? Because it isn't ready or finished.

I love the hell out of it but it clearly isn't "ready" or "done" in any of the versions I've heard.

It is a weird one for me. It isn't a slower-type song that you can stand around at the concert and just "groove" to, but it isn't necessarily a faster song that you can "rock out" to either. If I heard this live I would think to myself "what am I supposed to do now?"

You're supposed to stomp and grumble, duh.

You're supposed to get excited they are playing such a rare live song and then cross your arms because they aren't doing it like they used to.

I think a shortened version of OTE would work better in studio and a "slow lukin" live version would be interesting. But for whatever reason, I can't make it through the entire song either.
