i think you might want to give the credit to Frank Miller for 300's mythologizing. Its pretty much a shot for shot remake of the comic. Snyder just had the good sense not to fuck it up.

Same with Watchmen, which doesn't work as well because, unlike Miller's stuff, that comic doesn't transfer to film nearly as easily, and Snyder is rather lost without help.

I do agree that
Watchmen seems to be a more slavish adaptation than I would have liked. It's good, but mid-level Snyder for me.

There is a lot of pure fanboy spank bank material here. I'm glad DC is finally producing a movie starring the two biggest names in superhero history that isn't trying to be so damn "real" that it becomes sterile. I'm definitely more excited now.

while the destruction in MoS is laughable i think if people step back and realize he isnt "superman" (that we all know) you understand how he will grow to understand his power. remember it isnt like he knew all his powers etc, he just learned he could fly what, a week ago ?

you'd think he would catch on the first time he "accidentally" dropped a building on someone's head. It doesn't seem like it would take a long personal journey to learn not to be a d*ckhead.
