I asked Pandora to play me some RHCP and it plays a mix of RHCP and “similar artists”. The next two songs that followed were Tom Petty and then Everlast.

ok, just had my first listen. I wasn't paying full attention cause it was kinda on the background so this will not be a fair assessment.
But on first impressions... I don't really share your excitement guys. It's very tame and mild. Most songs are underdeveloped and too long. Overall it kinda lacks focus.
John sounds great but also sounds like he didn't touched a guitar for 15 years... which is probably true...
It will probably grow on me on repeated listens. But it's far from a masterpiece or anything just a nice addition to their catalogue.

I wasn’t a big fan of BTW Initially It took me years to fall in love. This album kind of reminds me of Btw for some reason.
