The only thing that matters at this point is jabbing the 16% of old people out of the population. The deaths would crater.

Yes it's truly amazing we can't figure out how to contain exponential and raging spread. Kiwis who only have to worry about testing and tracing one or two people every six weeks could figure it out I bet.Strat wrote:Its truly amazing that America can't get this shit together.Rangi Guy wrote:NZ can echo this tooSgt. As much as it would be nice not to deal with the waiting for results and how our Southern Hemisphere friends have their shit together the fact that every other insect can kill you by looking at you will keep my ass here

What the heck are you talking about? A brief snapshot of how South Australia is jumping on our first outbreak since April:verb_to_trust wrote:Yes it's truly amazing we can't figure out how to contain exponential and raging spread.Strat wrote:Its truly amazing that America can't get this shit together.Rangi Guy wrote:NZ can echo this tooSgt. 20 confirmed cases since the weekend, 4000 potential contacts already identified and in isolation through track and trace.
11,000 (free drive up, etc.) tests conducted in the last 48 hours.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
I'm a little surprised that question hasn't come up on my conference calls. The States really expect the CDC to solve ridiculous problems, but the ultra low freezer that I saw was customized to hold cylinders of varicella virus, and you couldn't get inside of it. Much to the chagrin of Hollywood, I'd be shocked if any walk-in refrigeration unit was built without an emergency release on the inside.96583UP wrote:B
has anyone ever gotten stuck in the -70 C freezer?
is there an emergency escape button if the door handle breaks off from the inside?
we need to think through the rest of these potential issues before this goes live
Although, I am certain some of the medical professionals I have met would do something stupid like move heavy equipment in front of the door right after someone went in.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

11 thousand tests in two days? My state tests around 100k a day and it does nothing to slow things down. That's how different the situations are.Birds in Hell wrote:A brief snapshot of how South Australia is jumping on our first outbreak since April:verb_to_trust wrote:Yes it's truly amazing we can't figure out how to contain exponential and raging spread.Strat wrote:Its truly amazing that America can't get this shit together.Rangi Guy wrote:NZ can echo this tooSgt. Do you think the measures they have taken as a country led to being able to test and trace so effectively (having such low numbers)? Like how South Korea, New Zeleand and even Hawaii have put measures in place to slow the spread.verb_to_trust wrote:Yes it's truly amazing we can't figure out how to contain exponential and raging spread. Update, Pfizer is asking the FDA to review their data that shows this vaccine remains stable at refrigerator temperatures for 30 days. That's a game changer.B wrote:This is actually what I do ...
Vaccine comes in a 50lb shipper that can maintain the temps for 10 days with dry ice, longer if you replace the dry ice with more dry ice pellets (no idea where you get those), but basically it's a box in a box with dry ice between the two and on top.
Inside that box you can put up to 5 "pizza boxes" that hold 1000 doses each. So, every state has been scrambling to find places that have ultra cold freezers, but you can also ship this stuff to any place that can vaccinate 1000 people in 10 days and they can just stick the shipper wherever they want.
You can only open the damned thing 2X per day for 1 minute each, but the vaccine's still viable for a day in the refrigerator. So, you basically estimate what you're going to use in the morning and move that into the refrigerator and throw out whatever you don't use at the end of the day.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

If the Moderna one does I don't see why the Pfizer one wouldn't.B wrote:Update, Pfizer is asking the FDA to review their data that shows this vaccine remains stable at refrigerator temperatures for 30 days. That's a game changer.B wrote:This is actually what I do ...
