have we heard that they arent happy with it? or just the bob pushed to get it added?
If It was pushed on, something was probably pushed off yeah?
Not necessarily, could've started with 11 tracks like Backspacer.

Thanks stip, that'll help those of us who don't want to immerse themselves in this thread too much but are still interested.

How do you know that? If they aren't happy, why go through the time and effort of finishing the track? They drop plenty of good stuff of the studio floor, they have admitted as much since Riot Act, so that doesn't make a lot of sense to end up with that on the album unless they didn't have anything better.

I really hope that it's a little throwaway novelty (preferably better than that) that announces the last two songs as more folky ones. The song before it is LTRP (if I remember) so maybe that's like the last of the 'rock' songs.

They had better stuff when they decided to leave Sad and Fatal off Binaural and Down off Riot Act (?). They do it all the time. Not saying that's what's happened here, but BO'B really wanted it on there so it's on there. They're happy enough to release it so I guess that's OK by them.

Yeah, I'm not buying that they were unhappy with SBM.

I'm just hoping that people are locked into the 'Ugh, folk is horrible and Mumford & Sons are like Matchbox 20 with a banjo' mindset.

I went through the reviews we have so far (through alternative nation) and tried to track the general impressions of each song. Either positive, negative, or unsure (either because the reviewer only gave descriptions without any indication if they liked what they were hearing, or the listener wasn't sure themselves. Obviously this is all subject to the huge caveat that this is my interpretation of their remarks. Some of those unsure's may very well be negatives that the reviewer did not want to admit, although most of them reflect (iirc) just descriptions without commentary

Getaway:
Positive-IIIIIII
Negative-
Unsure-

My Father’s Son
Positive-IIIII
Negative-I
Unsure-I

Sirens
Positive-III
Negative-II
Unsure-II

Lightning Bolt
Positive-II
Negative-
Unsure-IIIII

Infallible
Positive-IIII
Negative-
Unsure-III

Pendulum
Positive-IIIIIII
Negative-
Unsure-

Swallowed Whole
Positive-III
Negative-I
Unsure-III

Let the Records Play
Positive-IIIII
Negative-
Unsure-I

Sleeping By Myself
Positive-
Negative-IIIII
Unsure-II

Yellow Moon
Positive-III
Negative-I
Unsure-III

Future Days
Positive-II
Negative-I
Unsure-IIII

So getaway, my father's son, infallible, pendulum, let the records play, and possibly yellow moon look to be the standout tracks thus far. Obviously MYM isn't included.
