I like this girl a lot, and she makes a lot of really good points here, especially about the climax of the film and how deeply stupid a storytelling choice it is to have Rey be a Palpatine.
I need to stop thinking about this movie
If I wrote a screenplay, I'd want to run it by her first to see if it sucked. Few seem to understand that things need to be properly set up first and paid off later. Yet the most highly paid people in Hollywood do not understand this.
Considering that she didn’t like Joker, or seem too pleased with Endgame, perhaps Hollywood knows better after all?
Joker did actually kind of suck
Joaquin Phoenix probably gave one of the five best acting performances of the decade. Should be a certain academy award winner, excellent movie.

If the critics love it, the fans love it, and it makes more money than any movie ever, how bad can it be? Certainly a big success.

A very impressive performance in a mildly sucky movie with a lot of problems

Wait, is that girl for real? I honestly thought her videos were shtick. Is she not doing a character, like a send up of internet culture? Is her channel not YouTube's Colbert Report?

She's for real and she's incredibly astute. I don't agree with everything she says in every video but I really admire her eye

She does seem to post mostly negative reviews, but I see that she actually did like and defend The Last Jedi.

I watched a couple of her videos a while back and I thought they were really funny. She's definitely smart but I also watched them as satire. So while there were good points the stuff that really sang for me was the negative stuff because I was certain she was sending up YouTube/reactionary culture.
Now that I know she's not putting on a character or doing a bit, I need to watch more of her stuff.

It's not a problem. It's an answer. It's telling him that Luke should be the main focus, and the "younger generation" take a backseat.
You clearly don’t know how story telling works. Or filmmaking narrative.
It’s not Luke’s story anymore.
Han Luke and leia *still* running around th galaxy on hijinx adventures would see you exactly here complaining about why are there old people ruining Star Wars? They could have so easily brought in a new set of characters.
Don’t even lie. You would.
There's nothing saying you can't continue the OT characters adventures into 7 - 9. There's nothing saying you have to pass the torch.
You're part of the same group that think:
1) the ST is the "next generation" (passing of the torch, etc.)
2) want more adventures with the new group past episode IX.
Going by your logic. The ST characters can't have more adventures, since they have to pass the torch, if there were to be a next trilogy.
Why are we short changing the OT characters? The ones that started the whole darn thing. The ones that everyone cares about.
Plus, you're missing my point of using the OT characters still. It doesn't have to be get them all back together for "hijinx" adventures. Let's utilize them and make them important to the story.
Yeah, you're right. I'm not a professional director, or screenwriter. But I know when stuff is lazy and crap.

The lesson here is that writers need to stop having characters say other characters names all the time. The one exception to this, of course, is Alexis saying "David" on Schitt's Creek.

Im sure there will be an explanation in the comics or books. Why Finn acted like a needy puppy in all three movies?
Oh..wait and see guys...it involves Palps and Skywalker.
